Paul encourages the church in Colossae to put away their old habits and instead clothe themselves in the new clothes of Christ, meaning new ways of being in the world that reflect Christ’s teachings.  The Gospel text from Luke tells the parable of a rich man who hoards his possessions only to discover he can’t take them with him when he dies.  This text is similar to the Ecclesiastes text for this week but comes to very different conclusions.
