Another year, another Madden, but this one’s a bit different. Geoff and John take a look at the latest version of Madden and give a quick overview of some of their favorite features. Glitches abound, but patches are coming soon. Pros: great gameplay, new pass/catch dynamics make the game more challenging. Cons: Phil Simms, canned dialog, John’s interception frequency. Overall Geoff gives 4/5 Shnozzolas and John gives it 4.5/5 Shnozzolas, for their best rating ever. So far. Cover photo from the Madden cover series by Matt Steller and music this week is from Dot Dash with “Rainclouds” and Blue Ducks with “Four, Floss, Five, Six”.
A lot of injuries in the NFL have teams scrambling for free agents and old receivers. Reggie Wayne, Rex Grossman, Mike Vick, all signed in the same week. Will Randy Moss make a return? Also, John attempts to explain how the MLB waiver wire works in August, Geoff tells the tale of IK Enemkpali’s catfish experience. What’s this about eSports being in the Olympics? Geoff makes a startling realization that eSports already plays in sold out arenas, and NFL preseason length goes under the microscope. Music this week from Jahzzar with “Please Listen Carefully” and Monster Rally with “Island on Fire”.
Geoff and John review the Matt LeBlanc classic “Ed”. With with below average pitching skills, Deuce Cooper was a chump, but with his buddy Ed, he’s an above-average pitcher with a chimp. Join the guys as they take a look at this baseball film full of farts, burps and drunk driving and see if you agree with the amount of Shnozzolas they give the movie. They both say 2/5, with a 0/5 for baseball action. Music for this episode is “Requiem for a Fish” by The Freak Fandango Orchestra.
The first ever “Old Timey Twitter” in which Geoff and John act out the DeAngelo Hall/DeAndre Hopkins beef and discuss if they could take a punch to the jaw from Mr. CC Sabathia? Was James Harrison doing the right thing when he returned his sons runner-up trophies? How many bunts in a game constitute trying to lose? All that and more in this week’s episode of That One Sports Show with Geoff and John.
We watched “DIII: Football’s Finest” last week and had some thoughts. While impressive that it was directed, edited and written by Marshall Cook (who also stars as the main character), it doesn’t really sit atop the great sports films of history. Some heavy-handed racism and a few too many Dick jokes got this an average of 2.25 Shnozzolas from John and Geoff. Music for the show from Kevin MacLeod called “Slow Burn.”
Geoff and John take a look at the last week in sports around the US. Ohio state jersey limitations and thoughts on whether athletes should actually get paid in college. Thoughts on jaw-breaking face punches, how the PGA Championship could and should go. Where will the “Hefty Lefty” end up as a QB and how far can John throw a washing machine. This week’s opening music is “Favorite Secrets” by Waylon Thornton and the closing music is “April Showers” by ProleteR.
Geoff and John take a look at this week in sports. From an offensive week in baseball and a major suspension to Ronda Rousey dominating all opponents to James Harden becoming the next NBA Superstar with Adidas? Can’t forget about the last week without football on Sunday. The guys check on the latest for the HOF game and talk a bit more about their thoughts on the NFLPA. Music this week by Jason Staczek with Lumpy Gravy and Josh Woodward with Cherubs.
Suspensions, steroids and scandal! Geoff and John put on their sports purist hats and discuss whether suspensions in the NFL have been just, if Pete Rose gambling should prevent him from being in the Hall of Fame and your eSports update of the week.
Golf, golf and golf. Geoff and John review the US Open, have some technical difficulties and take a look at Tiger Woods and his career. Other topics include Becky Hammon, Space Jam 2, John’s amazing soccer career and the greatness of Aroldis Chapman.
It’s the first show! Geoff and John go over some of the finer points of ABC’s BattleBots and get into some NBA/MLB/NFL discussion.
