August 2017's Special Edition of #TheDesiFrenzy series
#BhangraFestFrenzy Special Edition
#BhangraFestFrenzy Special Edition
What started off as a random idea on the release day of ‘Hostel’ inadvertently became one of the most anticipated mixes of 2017. Having spent nearly a month away from the studio due to technical issues, as promised, DJ Frenzy is back with TWO huge mixes in June to keep you entertained. “The response to #MamlaFrenzyHai has been insane, but the amount of messages I’ve had to release the Sharry Maan & J-Hus mix has been ridiculous! Haha!” Quite possibly the biggest track to come from the Bhangra scene in 2017, ‘Hostel’ is given the Frenzy treatment, with the added UK edge of grime artist ‘J-Hus’. “For me, this is a signature “Frenzy” mix: East meets West, with a few cheeky samples along the way! I always try to bring a new element to a track when I mix it and change the perspective on the original. I’m hoping I’ve achieved that with this mix.”
WHEN JACKSON 5 MEET GURDAS MAAN
Following on from the unprecedented response to ‘Valentines Frenzy’, DJ Frenzy returns with an up-beat jam for your summer collection, as part of #TheDesiFrenzy series for April 2017! Bringing together the latino reggaeton vibes of ‘Despacito’ featuring ‘Justin Bieber’ and fusing them with the punjabi vocals of ‘Guru Randhawa’ and ‘Noor Jehan’ - this truly is a worldwide mash-up of flavours for everyone. “I like to add an old skool twist to the end of most of my mixes, but always prefer to leave it on a note where the listener is left wanting more… However, on this occasion, it was actually ME that was left wanting more, haha! “ “As a result, I ended up adding in the full vocals to ‘Laung Gawacha’ and creating an extended mix at the end of this mash-up. It was completely unplanned and spontaneous, but I feel that it fits in with the rest of the vibe and adds an extra element for those who perhaps prefer the old skool mixes over the newer stuff.”
This month’s mash-up is the first volume of a collection of mixes put together by DJ Frenzy with the theme of Panjabi Folk Legends. “Following on from #ManakFrenzy, there was always an urge to make something else aimed at the same audience who appreciated that mix. This gave me the idea of creating ‘#LegendsFrenzy’. With the recent trend of every DJ & his next-door neighbour creating mixes of popular English tracks and Panjabi songs, I felt now was the right time to drop the first part of the #LegendsFrenzy collection. It’s something refreshing to hear after all those “pop” mixes. Each mix in this collection will have a unique theme and vibe - with my underlying aim being to promote and showcase these Legends to a new generation of listeners. I hope you all like it and appreciate it for what it is.”

Taking it back to the combination from January 2016, we start the 2017 edition of #TheDesiFrenzy series with the same ingredients; a female Panjabi singer, this time with ‘Sunanda Sharma’ on the vocals, and urban UK vibes from ‘Giggs’ and ‘Donaeo’. “ ‘Patake’ was playing on repeat out in Panjab whilst I was over there in November/December and I’ve had loads of requests to mix it up. I’ve made the Urban UK edge prominent on this one, so if you like your bass and your Bhangra, then this one is for you.”
A customised edit of the 'Starboy' section from the #FrenzyRoughCuts mix, featured in December's edition of #TheDesiFrenzy series. This version was made especially for AKHIL's live performance on New Year's Eve 2016 in Delhi.
DJ Frenzy presents the FINAL edition of #TheDesiFrenzy series for 2016… A compilation of 4 mixes from the Frenzy archives to end the year with a bang! Featuring: Kulwinder Billa, Jenny Johal, Kaur B, Ranjit Kaur, Akhil, The Weeknd, Amarjyot, Jordan Sandhu, Jass Bajwa, Ammy Virk and more!
November’s edition of #TheDesiFrenzy series is out now! Possibly the biggest song to come out of the South Asian subcontinent in 2016, ‘Kala Chashma’ is finally getting a DJ Frenzy re-work! This month, Panjabi folk vocalist ‘Amar Arshi’ is brought to the forefront, with three full verses from the original song, as well as catchy rap excerpts from the 2016 version featuring ’Badshah’. ‘24K Chashma’ is a fusion of Panjabi dancefloor vibes, 80s disco/funk mixed with contemporary R&B. ‘Bruno Mars’ features as a key element of the mix, with the title single from his latest album ‘24K Magic’. “When I heard the 2016 version of Kala Chashma, I was surprised that such a low-key and relatively unknown Panjabi song was used in Bollywood, yet disappointed that so much of Amar Arshi’s original vocals were left out. With this mix, I wanted to showcase the original version of the song, as well as adding a new dimension to it with the Digi-Funk style of ‘24K Magic’. There’s a few cheeky samples from a couple of other songs in there too, and a different style ending to the mix. It’s a new vibe from me again, but the essence of my mixing style is still present. Hopefully you all like it :)”
