Whilst Luke's instincts are to run Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) persuades him to fight and Cage scores another victory taking Domingo Colon's (Jacob Vargas) Hammer weapons off the streets of Harlem. Back at Harlem's Paradise another fight is about to break out as Dillard visits Stokes to convince him to let go of his obsession with Cage. However, Scarfe attempts to leverage Stokes but his plan backfires and he is left critically wounded on the streets of Harlem by Cottonmouth. He is hunted by Stokes and by the NYPD as his dirty past begins to creep up on him. On the run Scarfe seeks refuge at Pop's Barber Shop and help from Luke Cage as he realises his enemy's enemy is his friend and only chance at redemption. In his delirious state, having bullets removed by Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Scarfe tells Cage of his involvement in the murder of Chico (Brian 'Sene' Marc) and points him to where he can find his notebook with incriminating evidence on Stokes and his police payroll. As Cage and Temple, with a deteriorating Scarfe, race to One Police Plaza to turn over the evidence and get Scarfe to surgery they are ambushed by mercenaries hired by Stokes. As Misty Knight (Simone Missick) arrives, after uncovering the involvement of Lieutenant Perez (Manny Perez) with Stokes, her partner Rafael Scarfe dies from his injuries. Confiding in her mother about saving a bullet-proof man in Hell's Kitchen she explains her growing need to help the heroes that walk the streets of New York; just as she glimpses on the TV the incredible sight of Luke Cage (Mike Colter) emerging from a collapsed building unscathed! However, not everyone is pleased to see Luke Cage alive and a shocked Cornell Stokes aka Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) hits back at Luke extorting the citizens of Harlem to cover his debts and to recover the money stolen by Cage. As the heat rises in Harlem Shades (Theo Rossi) recognizes Cage from Seagate Prison and warns stokes of the damage to his reputation offering Stokes ways and means to deal with Cage. But as the inevitable arrives and Stokes becomes more obsessed with Luke Cage they clash...first on the streets of Harlem, then in Cottonmouth's club - Harlem's Paradise - and finally during Pop's memorial, where Cage delivers an eulogy that humiliates Stokes in front of the people of Harlem.
