Joanna Boyles talks with Jordan about her journey from a young kid growing up in North Carolina to finding a passion in soccer and pursuing her dream of playing professional. She speaks of her first dream coming true when she graduated high school a year early to attend UNC Chapel Hill and how everything seemed to be lining up. Until the end of her Junior season, one of the best to date for her at UNC, when she tore her ACL right before playoffs. She then tore her other ACL within 9 months and we dive into what she changed about her rehab process including who she trained with (Trainer Gorres see earlier episode with him). Joanna just finished her 5th year season on a high note, starting every game at UNC and entering into the NWSL draft on January 18th. After studying ACL injuries and all the techniques used to reconstruct them, he is now performing ACL repair surgeries on hundreds of patients a year. We talk about the difference between an ACL repair and an ACL reconstruction. What lead him to believe he should have another look at ACL repairs after they were done years and years ago.
