We all want to live a successful life but the truth is, many of us are not. And some of us only think we are. In fact, we might be surprised to discover there are only two options for living the life we want.

What’s more important? Doing a good and needed work on Jesus’ behalf or choosing to sit at His feet and worship Him? Jesus clarified the priorities for Mary and Martha, and He’ll clarify ours too.
Feeding the 5,000. Calming raging storms. It would be easy to believe in Jesus if we were there in person, wouldn’t it? Or would it? Like his close, personal friends, do we also quickly forget God’s faithfulness and trustworthiness as soon as the next storm comes along?
We don’t deserve grace. We don’t deserve forgiveness. We don’t deserve another chance. Yet Jesus shows up and in spite of what we’ve done and who we are, that’s exactly what He offers us.
Sometimes it all seems so unfair. Why them and not us? Why you and not me? When Jesus came face to face with this man and miraculously met his need, others were left pondering the very same questions.
Shunned. Avoided. Isolated. And the one thing you never did was touch them. Yet not only did Jesus heal him, He touched him. What does an encounter with God offer? Compassion. Kindness. Inclusion.
So busy looking for Jesus in expected places and spaces, we often overlook when He shows up in our everyday, ordinary routines. And when He does, He’s more than aware of our attitudes, motives and heart’s desires.
