When do we walk away, and when do we stay and engage? When do we push for resolve and restoration, and when should we allow time for space between us? It's all part of learning to love different.

We often bristle at the biblical mandate to submit to one another. Why do we have to? What happens when do, and what happens when we don't? And is that what it takes for us to experience the healthy, thriving relationships we so long for?

It's easier to judge. It's easier to require people to change first. It's easier to withhold grace and mercy until it's earned. But Jesus tells us to be different, to love different, and to work diligently toward relationship restoration. 

Forgiveness is hard for most of us, especially if the wrong done against us was deeply painful or the person who hurt us is not repentant. So how do we do it? And why is it so important that we do?

Love asks that we sometimes compromise our personal desires and preferences for the sake of someone else. Without sacrificing truth and principles, how and when should we compromise on our practices? 

Loneliness and disconnection are epidemics in our world, but we were never created to live this way. How can we find the reconnections we so desperately need and were designed for?

Love Values

We control, convince and manipulate our relationships to get where we want to go. By serving, submitting and sacrificing, Jesus got where He needed to go and emerged victorious. What if we tried it His way?

What’s your story? The one about what God did for you when you didn’t deserve it. The story that makes it possible for you to love others even when you don’t feel like it or think you can.   

Love Chooses

Time for a vision check-up. Pastor Mike is back from Uganda and sharing a "state of the church" address this weekend. We'll see more clearly the vision, mission, and future plans of Hope Community Church.

At one point or another most of us ask if who we are and what we're doing really matters. We want to be on a road to a life packed with purpose. But what if we're unsatisfied with our journey? What's the secret to getting on the right path and leaving a legacy that truly matters? 

Heartbreak. Disappointment. Confusion. Loss. Where is God in the midst of it? How do we hang on while going through it? And can we truly find hope and healing through belief in a loving God?

We're all too good at it. Making mistakes. Blowing it. Failing. And sometimes the consequences seem too great to bear. Is there any hope for it? For us? Is there a way to make things right and tame our wayward hearts?
