This week and next, Ali and Charlie will be showcasing their solo podcast projects. This is the third episode of The Doe Files, now available in your favorite podcast catcher.  On August 23, 1989, a bearded man strolled down Anchorage's Mountain View Drive around lunchtime. Completely naked. He looked to be in his early 30s and people stopped and stared and honked their horns from their cars nearby. He walked over to the nearby McDonald's where he walked over to the center of three flagpoles in the parking lot and started to climb... If you know more about who Anchorage John Doe is or have any information that may help investigators, please contact Stephen Hoage at the Office of the State Medical Examiner on 907-334-2200 or the Alaskan State Troopers missing persons unit on 907-269-5058.

 91: Rehtaeh Parsons | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2013

Thank you to Leah Parsons for talking with me for this episode. This episode is sponsored by Brooklinen. Get $20 off and free shipping with promo code SIGHT at brooklinen.com The story of Rehtaeh Parsons begins, for many people, with a post that went viral.  The post was made in April of 2013, just after Rehtaeh died following a suicide attempt. Her mother, Leah Parsons, started a memorial Facebook page to honor the life of Rehtaeh and the first post let the world know that Rehtaeh had been sexually assaulted a year and a half previously, a photo of the assault had been passed around, and she was bullied to the point her world fell apart around her.  But others heard the story when in May of 2014, a new hashtag started showing up on social media. It was hashtag Retaeh Parsons is her name. This hashtag was started by Leah in response to a Canadian court’s ruling to ban publication of Rehtaeh’s name.  Who was Rehtaeh before this happened? And what are Rehtaeh's parents doing to keep this from happening to anyone else?  89: The Sims Family Murders | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2122

Today’s episode takes us to 1966 Tallahassee. It was a time when residents kept their doors opened. And when the pastor of one of the city’s largest churches became a murder suspect and an entire lake was drained for evidence. Halloween was nearly cancelled. Women filled water guns with ammonia to better fight off an attacker. Children were kept home at night. And police wandered the streets, looking for a killer or killers who bound and savagely murdered a family. On October 22 1966, while many residents were watching Florida State University and Mississippi State play football, someone or more than one person, attacked and murdered Robert Sims, his wife, Helen and their daughter in their home. Today we are discussing the unsolved murder of the Sims Family. Thank you to True Crime Fan Club podcast for sponsoring today's episode.
