Tonight on the GeekNights Book Club, we review Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games. It's catching like wildfire, and dubious as we were, we had to see what all the fuss was about. The verdict? It's pretty good. Not great. Not particularly memorable. But, an enjoyable read well worth its short length and engaging story. Also, Rym hipstered up with some PBRs at Control-Flow. The next book (Scott's choice) will be 1Q84 by Haruki-Murakami.

Tonight on GeekNights, we return at the turn of the tide, having recovered from PAX, hopefully in time for PAX! We bring you some initial coverage of PAX East 2012, and then consider Werewolf, or Mafia, or Beantown: whatever you call it, we present the Mafia-likes.

Tonight on GeekNights, Rym shares the scantest beginnings of his experiences traveling in Mumbai and Hyderabad, India. In the lounge, we consider the unique advantages of satire in the Daily show, as well as an interesting story highlighting how, if you're rich and clever enough, you can indeed break the bank. Now that Scott's beaten it, we talk about Abobo's Big Adventure, but not before we review Trigger!, which is from the same people who brought us the wonderful Spot-It! (Spoilers: it's actually pretty mediocre, and definitely a disappointment next to Spot-It). In the news, Wil Wheaton's Tabletop is a thing, Game Gear games are coming to the 3DS, and Nintendo is trying to make multiplayer more intuitive despite their (sarcastically) glowing history of this. Tonight on GeekNights, we review the fantastic comic by Rich Burlew: Order of the Stick. Why yes, it happens to be a webcomic. In the news, Daryl Surat is heading to neither PAX nor Anime Boston, but to Sakura-con, for one very important reason, Scott geekbites Tezuka's Princess Knight (slow news day).

Tonight on GeekNights, without getting into any deep technical, boring detail, we talk about network mounted filesystems and the like (SMB, CIFS, NFS, DRBD, etc...). In the news, Rym is back from India and is still tired of the TSA and its attempt to suppress further information showing how useless it is, New York's data are increasingly openly available, and California looks to legalize automated cars following Nevada's progress.

Tonight on GeekNights, by Scott's request, we hit up some Sailor Moon with the Sailor Moon SuperS Movie: Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Super S: The 9 Sailor Soldiers Unite! Miracle of the Black Dream Hole (????????????SuperS ??????????????????????????! But first, Master Keaton returns, along with Arakawa Under the Bridge and Bastard, and Japan's culture around piracy is stridently different from US attitudes.

Tonight on GeekNights, we talk about content filtering, but not before a great discussion on OSX Gatekeeper and all of its ramifications (including our bet that Apple will drop the opt-out option within three years and stop selling Macs entirely within five), a good discussion of how we'll be first in line to gargoyle it up with some Google Goggles and a surprisingly long discussion of the Star Wars watching order debate (see The Machete Order).
