In episode four of Sound Justice: A CLS Podcast, we are joined by Jamie Gullen, an attorney in the Employment Unit, and SSI attorney Claire Grandison, who is currently an Independence Foundation Fellow and recently completed her Stoneleigh fellowship. We discuss Claire and Jamie’s focus on providing holistic representation to young people, and the Youth Justice Project (YJP), which Claire and Jamie launched in collaboration with Jesse Krohn from Philadelphia Legal Assistance. Through the YJP, Claire and Jamie are working with other advocates and organizations who serve youth to develop an age-sensitive model for assisting young people with their intersecting legal issues, such as barriers to employment and benefits, as they transition to adulthood. We hear the stories that inspired Claire and Jamie to create the YJP, and about the roles advocacy and outreach play in securing stable and successful futures for youth who have experienced many obstacles.
