Back in the proverbial saddle with another Wyrd Ways Rock Show. This big news this week is an interview with Sabaton, recorded for us by Nick over at Nuclear Blast, and a MASSIVE slab of music from next year’s SOS Festival in Manchester. Sarah interviewed Steve from PowerQuest not long after the band's set. This was billed as their last appearance as a live band, so emotions were running rather high.

Back from our holidays and we're ready for action! I was in Cornwall last week, which is why there wasn’t a show. This week, though, there is one. And it’s something of a cracker, even if I do say so myself! In terms of what’s in it, there’s new stuff from Gov’t Mule (sort of), Epica and Opeth for a start and an interview with Soma Dark, as recorded at this year’s SOS Festival. You know what they say about "The best laid plans...", yes? Well, the plan for this was to have it out on Friday night before SOS kicked off. That plan was then modified so I would get it out on Saturday morning before I set off to SOS. Then real life and tiredness intervened (twice!), so you're getting the "sort of preview" AFTER the event. As promised last week, there’s new stuff from Joey Jordison’s other project, Vimic, so don’t tell me I never follow through on my promises! There’s also new stuff from Dead Daisies and Neil Fallon’s side-project, Dunsmuir. That’s (obviously) not all. Alongside a track from the recently unearthed version of Cradle Of Filth’s second album, Dusk And Her Embrace, there’s also a track from Old Corpse Road and an interview, recorded at last year’s SOS Festival, with two of the members of reunited NWOBHM band, Avenger. Record Of The Week celebrates the storming new album by Bristol (and Nottingham)’s very own Bull-Riff Stampede. Turn it all the way up.

Pretty much back to normal this week. No tragedies in the music world to contend with. What have we got for you this week, then? New material from Joey Jordison’s latest project, Hellyeah, Monster Truck and Lacuna Coil. This week’s Shock Of The New features an interview with a fast-rising band from Wigan by the name of Bigfoot and the Record Of The Week from a certain Swedish band… No musicians or Rock Stars were harmed (or died) during the making of this show… although Meat Loaf, Ian Paice and Rick Parfitt had some near-misses. On the 21st May 2016, we lost another highly influential musician. Nick Menza, former Megadeth drummer passed away on stage during a show with his band, OHM, which also featured Chris Poland on guitar. Cause of death has been revealed as a heart attack. This show is dedicated to his memory, as well as the memory of the soldiers who died on the beaches of Normandy on 6th June 1944, whichever uniform they were wearing.

Remember last time I said I was trying to get the show back onto a weekly schedule…? Yeah… not worked out so well, unfortunately. Sorry about that. Anyway… this week’s show features new stuff from Death Angel, Sixx AM, Lacuna Coil and DevilDriver, as well as an interview Carl did with the lads from up-and-coming PROPER Heavy Metal band, The Mighty Wraith at Bloodstock last summer.
