A Song of Fire and Nerds Episode 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:14

Is there any correlation between the various Varys like eunuch characters? Give that a ponder then join us in a show analysis that is NOT just an episode recap.  We strive to provide unique one of a kind impressions on each release of the hit HBO show Game of Thrones.  This podcast will be filled with spoilers and comes from a position of having read all the books in A Song of Ice and Fire including comics, novellas, cook books, maps and histories.  With that in mind, The Nerds call Cersi Lannister one of the plastics from Mean Girls.  We give Kevan Lannister some praise after living in his brother’s shadow.  Finally we pull back the curtain and look at the invincible institutions in Westeros: the Faith of the Seven, the Maesters of the Citadel, the Iron Bank of Braavos.  Bake up some lemon cakes and sit down.

Episode 9: I Swear We are Gonna talk about Swearing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:22:02

Perhaps profanity has its place when exclaimed in the company of peculiar people. NerdOptimal takes a look through historical swearing, replacing curse words, social classes, language in front of kids, MPAA, film ratings, violence, nudity and swear word substitutes. We profess our stance on the matter and work through our predicament pertaining to profane language. Does censorship give your message more craftsmanship than one riddled with obscenity?   The MPAA is more worried about gift wrapping than the messaging being okay, and flexes it muscles to get it their way. PG-13 doesn’t mean it has anything particularly pristine. Screw your thinking cap on, flip it off and on to reset it, and wipe the poo off your understanding of swear words for a clean slate.
