The Misadventures of Max’s Minions - a Dungeons & Dragons Podcast

Summary: Join five companions and their (usually) benevolent dungeon master in this weekly series as they roll some d20s... and try not to die in the process. In "The Misadventures of Max's Minions", a 4th-edition-based D & D campaign, an eccentric wizard named Maximillian is on the verge of discovering the location of a long-lost maze; one that supposedly hides an incredible treasure. When Max's journal is pick-pocketed while walking the streets of Fallcrest, a group of adventurers comes to his aid and recovers the book. Max then hires them to help complete his research, sending them on increasingly dangerous (and usually hilarious) quests throughout the Nentir Vale to retrieve magical artifacts he requires to perform the ritual that will reveal the location of the maze. Listen in as Dog, the hunter raised by bears, Sting, a psychotic Pixie rogue, Stasi Xen, an ill-tempered fighter, Bullock, an obsessive-compulsive psion, and Kildrek, the party's impatient leader and cleric, attempt to traverse the minefield of misadventures laid before them by the (occasionally) impartial and benevolent DM. Together, they could unlock the secrets behind one of the Vale's greatest mysteries... if they don't kill each other first.

The Minions have secured directions to the lost Crown of Nerath. Of course, in typical fashion, they did so by killing several members of the mysterious Grey Company and gaining a new foe in the process. Now, they have taken flight towards the Grey Downs where Clydor thinks a burial cairn containing the remains of the last King of Nerath lies. So, our heroes should just walk in, grab the crown, and walk out, right? Right...

Max has deciphered another ritual necessary to pinpoint the location of the long-lost, treasure-packed maze. He sends the Minions north of Fallcrest to the Two River Inn to meet a former apprentice who may hold the key to finding the artifacts required to perform the ritual, but not before the Minions have a lengthy discussion on securing some more long-term living arrangements. With their real estate problems in hand… no pun intended… the Minions find Max’s former apprentice. Unfortunately, it turns out that the Minions aren’t the only ones seeking out the wizard.

Due to technical difficulties that weren’t detected until AFTER the last recording session was complete, all audio was unforunately lost. Never fear, though, because this brief “minisode” will at least fill you in on what you WOULD have heard if incompetence wasn’t in such tremendous supply amongst our technical staff as well as get you ready for the next regularly-scheduled episode (which we TOTALLY won’t screw up).

The Minions have managed to successfully capture Max’s elementals, but before they can leave Moat House and head back to Fallcrest to collect their pay, they find themselves trapped by the mysterious wererat, Red Carl, and his rather large associate. Our heroes survived the Tiefling attack only to see the sneaky wererat beggar slip through their grasps once again. Before Sting can have a stroke from rage, Max summons the party and sends them to an old fortress to search for an ancient summoning circle to capture two elementals. It’s back down the Nentir River and toward almost certain doom for our Minions!
