My guests for April, Ginger Simpson and Kathryn Rose are two ladies with books that tell it like it is. Yet their subjects are so different from each others. Ginger has never met a genre she hasn't loved or written a fiction book in. Her latest, First Degree of Innocence takes you into a the world of prison. A world, thank goodness, I know nothing about. I found the reason she wrote the book to be fascinating. I think you will too. Kathryn's book speaks to us all on a different level, social networking. It's written for parents of teens and pre-teens, but her common sense approach is a benefit to all.

It's Red River Radio and you are invited to join  Peggy Greene & Jon Magee and our author guests.    On our April 11 show, Red River Writers Live, we will be talking with authors, Gwyn Ramsey and Sherry Monahan about their writing interests in the history of the American West. Both are members of Women Writing the West, and on this show we will also talk about how the westward movement affected women. Our first guest, Gwyn Ramsey has done a three-book saga on the Anderson family. The most recent is Bound for Texas. The first was Journey to Tracer’s Point, followed by Winds of Change. In these chronicles, she embroiders a very complex and adventurous family history. These stories show a firm grasp of the challenges of those times. Gwyn is an active member of The Tampa Area Romance Authors and has developed some very effective marketing methods for her books.    Sherry Monahan has published six books. She is also editor, columnist and freelance writer for various magazines, True West and Arizona Highways. Sherry serves on the executive board of Western Writers of America, and is a member of the Author’s Guild, Women Writing the West, Wild West History Association, Western Writers International, National Women's History Museum. She consults with and appears on television and consults with the film industry on western history. These authors compliment each other’s backgrounds nicely. Gwyn Ramsey’s writing is more about the adventures of the westward movement, and Sherry Monahan gives us a rich picture of people’s lifestyles as they attempted to settle or make their fortunes. March 29 4PM EST- 3PM CST -Red River Radio Hosts Fran Lewis and Marsha Cook would like to welcome everyone to the first of four special shows dedicated to children’s authors. This show will feature authors whose books are geared to early childhood student’s grades k-2. Although many of the books can be used as read aloud in any classroom from k-5 the reading levels of these books would be for children in the lower grades. The lessons taught in each of these books can be used in classrooms teaching Character Education, Sunday School Classrooms, for parents to read at night to their children and in libraries or bookstores during story time. This is a special edition for teachers, children, parents, grandparents and anyone that loves to read children’s books and YA books. Red River Radio would like to announce this special edition of Book Discussion with your host book reviewer, author and writer Fran Lewis. This show will feature the best of children’s writing with authors writing in many different genres. Each book will be geared to early childhood children, elementary school students or young adults and teens. The authors will entice readers by telling you about his/her book and reading a short excerpt to really make you want to go out and buy it for your children, grandchildren and friends. School is about to open in some states and has in many others and what better way to get a head start on books needed for research, book reports and just plain fun, by listening to our show, hearing about these great authors and their books and joining in the discussion. The stars of this show are six great authors whose books I have read and reviewed: Linda Nance Concetta Payne Gregg seeley Franny Orenstein Mary Ann Miller JD Holiday.

Popular artists and show hosts Carolyn Watson-Dubisch, Wade Zahares, and Mike Dubisch interview illustrators, animators, and art agents to discover insight into the art world. The first guest will be Diane Washburn from A.W. Corporate Art Works. Diane is a graduate in Art From the University of Maryland, and represents artists from across the United States. AW Corporate Art Works provides artwork for placement in local, regional and worldwide corporate locations. Our second guest will be Elizabeth Watasin who has worked at Disney on animated children's favourites. She also makes illustrations, Zines, and handmade accessories to promote her stories. Her graphic novel Charm School was published by SLG Publishing. She lives with a black cat named Draw in a tree house in Los Angeles. Her YA fantasy adventure novel, Wit's World: Never Was, debuts in 2011. Our Third guest will be the muti-talented artist Shane Evans from Kansas City. Evans has conceptualized and illustrated numerous children’s books. Many of the books have been featured in the media such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, NBA Inside Stuff, Reading Rainbow and Late Night with David Letterman. Recent winner of the Image award from the NAACP for his children's book, "My Brother Charlie" by Holly Robinson Pete and Ryan Elizabeth Pete. Shane also developed the popular “Shanna Show” for Playhouse Disney, which spun of into “Shane’s Kindergarten Countdown.”

On Thursday, March 24th Host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes two authors whose books are published by MuseItUp Publishing, Inc., Terri Main and Lindsay Below. Terri's new book, Dark Side of the Moon is a sci fi mystery and Lindsay Below has several books published outside of Muse as well as the YA novel Lurkers coming later this year. Red River Writers would like to welcome authors Rick Acker and Arthur Torsone whose novels will not only create interest but much discussion too. Welcome to this edition of Book Discussion with author, host, book reviewer and online interviewer Fran Lewis. Arthur is going to share his real life story in his novel Herb Traders and Rick his real life experiences in When the Devil Whistle. One is about whistle blowers and the dangers of their job and the reason they are needed and the second is one man’s story about his life selling drugs, marijuana and being imprisoned. The month of March brings thoughts of spring! How wonderful to greet the warmer weather with three fantastic guests. Join Dellani Oakes Monday, March 14th at 4:00 PM EST. I will be talking to Jo Ramsey, author of the "Reality Shift" and "Dark Lines" series for young adults. Along with Jo will be author/ illustrator Linda Boyden. My two guests for March are Stephen Zimmer and Liliana Badd. Liliana's novel Exit took me out of my comfort zone. There were tears shed, but they were of the cleansing type. Lilianna refers to herself as an SWS, a solitary woman survivor. She has also been described as a woman with a restless, rambling soul. Stephen and I met last year at Archon. He is the author of science fiction books with a twist of fantasy. Stephen is also a producer of horror films. Thursday is going to be fun!
