Episode 107: Practice Games, Phillies, Pizza | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:43:00

In the "Jeffrey will tell the story of how he named his dog again" edition, we are already tired of spring training, so Jeffrey and Steve meander about discussing dog names, Yusmeiro Petit bobbleheads, and teams full of Lucas Dudas, rather than discussing all the stuff Terry Collins is saying. We do find time to discuss what Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard have been doing though, and it's very good. Then we preview the 2015 Mets outfield, tackling, well, things that Terry Collins is saying. Like Juan Lagares will bat leadoff, and Curtis Granderson will stay in right field. Next, Liz Roscher of The Good Phight joins the show to discuss the sad state of the 2015 Phillies, and why FanGraphs writers all hate Cole Hamels. Finally, Brian Renzi makes his podcast debut and helps Jeffrey answer your e-mails while he makes a pizza. We wrap things up with your weekly IFK Goteborg update and the announcement of our next live show.

 Episode 106: Starting rotation preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:00

In the 106th episode of Amazin' Avenue Audio, Jeffrey and Greg preview the Mets' starting rotation and answer your emails.

 Episode 105: Spring training preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:28:00

In the “Jeffrey promises not to tell the Shingo Takatsu story again” edition, Jeffrey and Chris talk about all the things that aren’t really happening even though there are in fact baseball players in Port St. Lucie doing baseball things. We discuss Dillon Gee’s uncertain future, Jenrry Mejia’s unbelievable hair, and Eric Campbell’s unassailable roster spot. And of course there is shortstop talk as well. We also kick off our positional previews with the Mets bullpen (#blameMcShane). Jeffrey isn’t sold on Bobby Parnell, closer of the (near) future, and neither of us are sure he 2015 Mets pen will be good (though we suppose this is an improvement from years past when we were pretty sure they weren’t). We wrap things up with your e-mails, which include Chris’s pro wrestling history and a serious consideration of Robinson Cancel, and the podcast adopts a soccer team (no, it’s not who you think).

Episode 104: Prospect list in podcast form | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:13:00

In the "Jeffrey has had a weird twenty-four hours" edition, Jeffrey, Greg, and Steve talk about the 2015 Amazin' Avenue Prospect List, which you can conveniently check out at Amazin' Avenue proper. On the podcast version, we take an overview of the Mets system and revisit the 2011 Baseball America Mets prospect list for some reason (probably it's the first one we thought to google). Next, we dive a bit deeper into Noah Syndergaard, our #1 prospect, since we weirdly haven't talked about him that much on the show. Then, we get into the kvetching about who had guys ranked too high or low and wrap up the prospect portion with a list of "our guys." Finally it's your e-mails of course, and Jeffrey wraps up the show with a now-outdated, but still shameless plug for his MLB Now appearance and a less-outdated, but no less shameless plug for his wife's concert series.

Episode 103: James Shields is not a Met | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:12:00

In the "Michael Cuddyer: Mindfreak" edition, Jeffrey and Greg discuss the films of Werner Herzog, Jeffrey and David Roth discuss the films of Ron Howard, and then Jeffrey and Greg discuss the merits of the TV show, "Sliders." This has been the worst offseason ever, you guys. There is also kvetching about James Shields, an in-depth analysis of the playoff odds of our two favorite second-division sports teams, and a lot of discussion about the 2003 Mets.

 Episode 102: Listener-generated content | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:10:00

In the "non-live snow day edition," Jeffrey and Greg indulge in a little listener-generated content. Yes, that's just a fancy way of saying it is an e-mail show. We talk about where we would play in a hypothetical Amazin' Avenue charity baseball game, debate the merits of the "Warthen slider," and issue a plea for more neutral minor league parks. Then, Steve Sypa joins the show to talk about this weekend's Amazin' Aveunue Regional Gathering Here (AARGH) in Manhattan, but mostly we just end up talking about the WWE's recent Royal Rumble. Consider yourself forewarned.

 Episode 101: Snow day live! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

In the "I hereby declare this day to be Snow Day, the funnest day in the history of the podcast" edition. Jeffrey had an idea to try out Blog Talk's live studio feature while he is snowed in his apartment. So we'll talk Mets baseball and the usual other stuff assuming he can figure out how this works.

Episode 100: Max Scherzer is not a Met | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:05:00

In the "Armando Bleepin' Benitez" edition, since we've spent the last 99 of these talking about the Mets, we decide to mix things up and talk about the Nationals. Also, the Mets didn't do anything last week. The Nationals did sign Max Scherzer, so Greg and Jeffrey discuss if it's a good deal for the Nats, and what it might mean for the 2015 (and beyond) Mets. We also have your e-mails on Matz vs. Syndergaard, Beane vs. Alderson, why the Wilpons are still here, and we'll try to talk you off the ledge so you are around for the next 100 (or 104?) of these. Cheers!

 Episode 99: This has been...Shortstop Avenue Audio | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:57:00

In the "Grand Slam Single" edition, imagine that, we're talking about a potential shortstop AND a trade the Alderson front office hasn't made. Yes, the Mets were (are) rumored to be interested in Ian Desmond, so Jeffrey and Greg bemoan having to still talk about shortstops, and then proceed to break down the pros and cons of a potential Desmond deal. That still leaves plenty of time to go over the 2015 Mets ZiPS projections and answer potentially incriminating e-mails. All in a week's work on Amazin' Avenue Audio.

Episode 98: At least one of these Mets is a future Hall of Famer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:12:00

In the "Other collapses we have known" edition, Jeffrey and Chris are rested and ready to kick off another year of Mets podcasts. Unfortunately, the team has not provided us with any news to talk about (this might unfortunately be a trend this year). So we are stuck discussing Mike Piazza's ballot woes, Wilmer Flores' projection woes, and Jeffrey's shin splint woes. We also find time to answer your e-mails and discuss second-rate, if not second division soccer. Out with the old year, in with the same old podcast on Amazin' Avenue Audio

The Amazin' Avenue Audio Holiday Special | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:45:00

After a long, hard year of talking about New York Mets baseball, Jeffrey decided to get himself an early Christmas present and commandeered the podcast to talk about a few of his favorite things. Fortunately one of those things *is* still Mets baseball (for now), and with the recent Troy Tulowitzki rumors it seemed only logical that Steve Schreiber, president of the Tulo Fan Club, would join the show. After that it's pro wrestling talk with Steve Sypa, a lengthy discussion of The Mountain Goats oevure with baseball writer (and angry Oriole bird) Jonathan Bernhardt, we drink some bourbon and chat about it with bartender Robert Juall, and wrap up a very long podcast on a very late night discussing Sheffield Wednesday with fellow New York Owl, Mark Hugo. There's a prize if you make it to the very end, but absolutely no one will hold it against you if you don't. Cheers!

 Episode 97: Yes...it's...Shortstop Avenue Audio | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:47:00

In the "“The Podcast is also cursed. That’s bad, but it comes with your choice of shortstops. That’s good! The shortstops contain potassium benzoate. Uh… That’s bad” edition, after a series of calamities befell our hosts (including a dead cell phone during the Rule 5 draft), Greg and Jeffrey finally get around to recording a podcast. There isn't much more to talk about than there was last week, but there is the John Mayberry, jr signing, a Rule 5 draft recap, and the final Shortstop Avenue Audio of 2014 to cover. There is also a terrible cocktail of the week and a whole bunch of your e-mails. See you in 2015! (unless the Mets do something big in 2014, so see you in 2015)

Episode 96: So it has come to Everth Cabrera | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:00

In the "The Mets got Rey Ordonez, and it was good" edition, Greg and Jeffrey don't have much to talk about. The Mets non-tendered Eric Young, which was...expected. And Everth Cabrera is freely available, if you are looking for a shortstop that is likely not a huge upgrade of Ruben Tejada. Fortunately you sent us some e-mails on...Gaby Sanchez? I guess it is that part of the offseason, Next week we will at least have some Winter Meetings rumors started by fourteen-year-olds on twitter. And Jeffrey does manage to talk a little *first* division English soccer this week for a nice change of pace.

 Episode 95: We're up all night with your e-mails | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:00

In the "The Mets shouldn't let Dallas Green anywhere near Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, or Zack Wheeler" edition, Jeffrey and Chris learn that it is very hard to be Steve Somers as they record their show during the overnight hours. Fortunately there isn't too much important news to talk about, unless you get really agitated about the Rule 5 draft (sheepishly raises hand). So we discuss the newest members of the Mets 40-man roster, who might get snagged at the end of the Winter Meetings, and then we answer a whole lot of e-mails while trying not to doze off facedown on our computers.

 Episode 94: We're ambivalent about Wilmer Flores | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:15:00

In the "Brett Saberhagen: not just an odd-numbered year wizard" edition, Jeffrey and Greg do not have a lot of Mets stuff to talk about. So what do they talk about? Certainly not the new Citi Field dimensions. Possibly the good run of form by Newcastle United? Perhaps a too long look into The Mountain Goats discography? Maybe an analysis of "Too Many Cooks?" Rest assured, there is some actual Mets content as we attempt to come to terms with the likelihood of Wilmer Flores, everyday shortstop, ponder our prospect breakout candidates for 2015, and answer your e-mails on the Mets bullpen, Kevin Plawecki, and the next Jacob deGrom.
