Binge Watchers show

Binge Watchers

Summary: A late night show for your ears since 2013. Started by a pair of film school friends that have reunited for one epic podcast after another. Binge Watchers get it? We talk about movies. We sometimes talk about our own experiences being on Hollywood's D list of weirdo indie filmmakers trying to catch a break before a total break down. But, hey we will always have this podcast we made, right? Until the digital crash and all digital info is zapped bye-bye, but wait, we are getting off track and this podcast description is getting way too long. Hosted by a writer and comedian, John Travis joined most-always by video director. Nicky T. Sometimes by their friends. And an entertainer or musician stops by every episode or so often to talk shop, tell a great story, or impart some crazy inspiration. Binge with us!

BW 53: Chuck Norris Versus North Korea | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5156

Right off the boot: Sony hack, Kim Jung Un, North Korea, and will The Interview ever get released. How much damage has been done to a film studio, Alamo Drafthouse protest, other films being cancelled, production companies running scared, North Korea super computer, dictators on Facebook, nuclear war, which action star can we send to handle the situation? Dave has a dream that John Travis's next film is called LEPRECHAUN FUCKER. Having sex on camera with Warwick Davis as method acting, Nicky T wants to give Dave oral over his movie selections, why they haven't seen all the Hellraiser movies. What the fuck is a "crtiton?" John explains. Nick still won't watch the Superman films. Joan Jett is a fan of the binge watchers, Kevin Smith's new movies, the Millenial vampire movie, proof you're a good writer, directors that direct without reading the script, and we send in Chuck Norris to deal with it.  Minisode 4: Fried Twinkies, or Porn & Your College Roommate | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1227

Once upon a time, when video stores were open... What's a minisode and why do they exist in our podcast feed? A minisode is a very specific and usually much shorter recording then a whole episode hence the mini. They usually come from a train of thought that occurs during a warm up pre-show, during a break in the main conversation, or a cool down post-show. Or sometimes, they are so specific to a singular message they are posted as such. They are funny, crazy, and entertaining but also intended to stand alone. (also ad free)

BW 52: The New Older Newer Terminator | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6583

Pictures of manly sandwiches, what it means to have a salad with bread, two new shows: Man's Dinner and Nick's Hikes, the good old days of podcasting, why we break format all the time, the two competing versions of Binge Watchers, guest participation scores, "audio dead fish", props to comedian Justin Matson, Nora Ephron, sending tweets through Facebook messenger, fan twitters with more followers, people who comment on videos all day, Youtube stars, really recording like we're in a garage, "cassette tapes in a basement method", learning nothing about ourselves in a year, still being broke, getting too old and too tired to burn candles, exporting the magic an hour later, how John chooses episode titles, building entire podcasts around the career of Christian Slater, sucked in by Star Wars fan trailers, the "black storm trooper" or the "black storm trooper." Star Wars reddit leaks, why the Binge Watchers will never discuss Superman movies, Super Nintendo games, side discussions about movies turned video games, Friday the 13th on Nintendo, and the new Freddy vs. Jason Nintendo game. The Nymphomaniac film is briefly talked off. The old future, or why we will have to use old technology in our broken super future, and why can't the Terminator find Sarah Connor? Linda Hamilton is wrecked. Yes, folks, we binge watch the entire Terminator franchise. Also Lawn Mower Man. Californiaisms. The new new new old older new Terminator and a new old newer T-1000 in the new older newer Terminator sequel/remake: Terminator Genisys.  BW 51: If You Can't Make Them Laugh, Make Them Cry | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6050

Comedian Justin Matson (fresh off a comedy show and a web series called BEEF) stops by to binge watch on some Edward Scissorhands, Hero, Princess Bride, and some other great movies. Talking about the differences between playing the live vibe of a comedy club audience versus trying to captivate a film going public. John Travis shares a disastrous screening experience at a friend's festival. Strategies are employed to tell good jokes and control a room. What to do when a heckler pulls a knife on you, and why is the woman in the front row crying? Nothing cuts the tension like a good song from Jason Wells, so enjoy "Friend or Foe." Getting played off your own show, hyping up our musical friends, does every comedian need a website, do you have to brand out, sketch writing, acting tips for comedians, how actors try to out do each other with emotional beats in real life even when they are only ordering coffee, save the drama for the drama class, how the film industry has exploded and then been exploited by the internet, how streaming has enhanced our binge watching habits, fans on instagram are insta-criminal charges, and a black and white vampire movie is plotted in the final minutes.  BW 50: Creating Mixdown for the Unofficially Official Anniversary Movie Podcast Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4618

Whoa, we have been podcasting for a year. There have been many ups and downs on this audio roller coaster...both adventurous rocks and disastrous rolls. One of us almost died from a blood clot, the other had his annual nervous breakdown and deep meditation to restore his wizard powers. Scripts did not sell, feature films did not get made, our other podcast was cancelled, our new comedy channel didn't take off, one girlfriend broke hearts, and one wife got disinterested. A short film did get made in the mix of all of this chaos called life, but it failed to connect beyond a small dedicated audience. We had several conversations with other comedians, filmmakers, musicians, and artists that led us to a greater understanding of how the universe shakes things down. But time seems to be very cyclical. To celebrate 50 episodes, we were going to do our Die Hard 2 holiday commentary track, but Nicky T screwed that up, so John Travis scoured the internet for TOP 50 movie lists, like literally top 50 and only #50's out of some popular genres: horror, comedy, drama, scifi, and indie. Then tests Nicky T to see how well he has binge watched the selections, and what their vodka-soaked memories recall about each movie. Star Wars fan trailers are debated at the last minute and Jason Wells provides our soundtrack with "Blue River." Boston Dot Com reports "Silent Night, Bloody Night" as the top 50 horror movie. Time Out London lists "When Harry Met Sally" as top 50 comedy. Game Radar marks "Barbarella" as top 50 scifi. Gear Patrol claims "A History of Violence" as top 50 drama. Empire Online lists "The Wrestler" as top 50 indie.
