Updated GarageBand, iMovie for iOS7, Mavericks | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 13:01

I revisit two apps that Apple updated with their new 10.9 Mavericks. Garageband and iMovie. Both of these apps have OSX counterparts. The big difference is they now talk to each other. Using Airplay or iCloud, you can send your project to your Mac to continue working on. New in Garageband Garageband has one added feature - the ability to bring in 3rd party apps to create new instruments and sounds using Inter App audio. Along with the other instruments, you are able to make new tracks and sounds. Garageband is also redesigned to allow for up to 32 tracks. In order to record 32 tracks you will need the new iPad Air. New in iMovie iMovie got more of an update. New transitions, new trailers and 16 new title styles. You can also bring in your slo-motion iPhone shots or any 120 fps video to apply in iMovie. Another new feature is iMovie Theater - the ability to watch your creations on Mac, Apple TV or other devices. iPad Air, iPad mini 2nd Gen - Worth the Purchase? During this show, I also give my thoughts on iPad Air and the iPad mini. I go through the features and what iPad Air and mini have. The biggest downfall to both iPad Air and mini is the camera. Why did Apple put in the same 5 MP camera instead of the 8 MP camera with flash sensor, panorama and slo motion options?

RockPack for iPad Lets you Organize Your Favorite Videos | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 4:36

I like to watch videos but when I want to show a specific video to a friend, I can never find it. With RockPack for iPad, I can now categorize my favorite videos so they are at my fingertips. Perfect for those parents that have to play the Gummi bear video to their kids from time to time. Rockpack by Rockpack Ltd. is a video organization app. I already found the Jimmy Fallon category and watched that impressive Miley Cyrus / Roots a Capella framed video (and even watched it although I have a ban on any video that says "Miley Cyrus" or "Twerking"). I then proceeded to create my own categories. I have a favorites video section for myself, then a public iPad365 section, with all my iPad365 videos. Share out your suggestions on public boards. Put cooking recipes in one container and news in another. RockPack is available for iOS and Android devices. Glitch in iOS7? Also in this video, I talk about the 5th generation iPad and also a there is a small glitch in iOS7 (at the 3:20 mark).

Crowdfunding Projects for iPad: Part 4 | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 12:55

Its been a while since we looked at crowdfunding projects dealing with iPad. The name has changed a bit (to bring in Indiegogo and FundAnything projects), but the idea is still there: iPad accessories, apps and more that need backers. As always, read through any crowdfund before backing. I believe I have already been a subject of Vaporfunding (crowdfund that has yet to produce a product). It literally is a 1/100 issue. iPad Products in need of Crowdfunding Everdock - Aluminum dock for iPad, iPhone and Android device. Just add your own cord Touchfire Screen - an overlay that gives a tactile feel to the keyboard. Padcaster Mini - The 2nd version of Padcaster.  Evernote for iOS7 – Rumors on 5th Generation iPad: iPad 5S and 5C? | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 7:35

Last week I talked about all the changes within iOS7. One app that really worked hard in utilizing all those changes was Evernote. I looked at the Evernote app back in 2011, so it's time to take a new look at this updated version. First, the new sidebar of Evernote holds all your notes and also has a quick-note area. You can see the last few notes you wrote, along with adjust all your settings to the app. Of course, Evernote talks with all other computers and devices so your notes follow you wherever you go. You can bring pictures, audio and more right into this note-taking program. The app is free, with premium service of $4.99 (yearly 44.99). Rumors on iPad 5 - Is there a 5S and 5C? I got a couple people asking me if Apple will do the same thing to iPad that they did with iPhone. I have a theory - iPad will technically be the 5S whereas iPad mini will be the 5C. I am postulating the iPad mini will finally get the so needed retina display. Further, you will see iPad mini with the plastic-backed cases and still with an A6 chipset. The iPad I expect will contain the A7 chip (and hopefully the M7 co-processor). Whether you can get that in gold, silver or black remains to be seen.  We Go Over iOS7 on iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 14:52

At noon today you could update your iPad 2, 3 and 4 (generation 4) to iOS7. I did so this afternoon and started playing with the new features. In this video, I show you all the features of iOS7. Major OS Overhaul To get with the "Flat" initiative, Apple flattened out all the icons. No more drop shadows, bevels or glass-overs. The icons are white upon another color. The buttons also got an overhaul as the old grey "OK" buttons disappeared. Sometimes its hard to figure out where the button is, though. The search area is now a swipe down from the screen and to get to the control panel, you swipe up from the bottom of the device. If you swipe up onto an icon, you will open the program, not the panel. 4th generation iPads got AirDrop - the ability to move a file from device to device. I suggest you turn that off when not using. You can set it to share with contact, too. Changing of Siri Siri got some new voices. The female voice got an overhaul (Sorry Surface - you'll have to update your commercials). You can also choose a male voice and a set of different languages including Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, German and more. The Dynamic background adds something to the iPad - although I don't see the 3D look that Tim Cook showed off at WWDC. Nonetheless, its a cool new feel to iPad. Camera on iPad iPad models only got camera, video and square (4:3) camera. You can do a picture burst mode and do have the effects options for your pictures. However, no pano (why?). Many more features on the show - check it out! Check out the last episode of iPad365 - Pixaki Pixel Art

Pixaki: Draw Pixel Art on iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 5:56

Over 13 years ago, I created an online comic called "Cybeeks" (see below). The early version of the strip was drawn in paint and had a pixelated effect. If I had this app, I might have continued on with that comic. If you are a game designer, graphic artist, photoshop professional or enthusiast, then this app will be a great tool for your iPad. Pixaki by Rizer is a pixel drawing app that uses layers so you can create images while on the go. With Pixaki you can create sprites, icons or characters for whatever project you are working on. You can even import with layers into Photoshop for continued work. Pixaki is $4.99 and for iPad only at this time. Check out the last episode of iPad365 - Candy Crush Saga

Documents for iPad Corrals Dropbox, Box, Google Drive in one iPad App | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 8:46

I have a few cloud drives. I have a Dropbox app, a Google Drive app and a Box app for my iPad. But when it comes to moving one file over or just searching for one specific file, this can get confusing. That is where Documents by Readdle comes in. I can set up all my cloud drives into one area and access those files needed. I can even set up a home drive for the iPad to pull from. I can bring documents, pictures, video and more into Documents for viewing or editing. Documents also stores email attachments, documents from the web or web pages to read later. I can view office files, annotate PDF files or just view photos from an event I went to. This app is available for all iOS devices. Adding some of the other apps, such as Scanner Pro will allow you to import more content from your home network. Need to rent computers or iPads for an upcoming event? Check out AVEventSolutions.  CaptureAudio Lets Your iPad Record for Proper Transcription | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 6:15

Well the kids are going back to school which means lots of note taking. I remember when I was in college - we all had tape recorders to get the professors words so we could transcribe later. Tapes have been replaced with MP3 recorders like our iPads. So a good note transcription software is ideal for capturing those lectures. That is where CaptureAudio by G8R Software LLC comes in. They have the ability to record the speaker and let you take notes at the same time. If they are too fast for you, then let the recording go and make the notes later. Of course if you have a Bluetooth keyboard, then I suggest getting a separate microphone so you don't hear the pounding of your fingers on the keyboard. Better yet, a Bluetooth microphone could be placed closer to the speaker so you get a better recording. You can use your other iOS devices to record the speaker - or have your friends record a block to transcribe, then share via Dropbox. CaptureAudio is .99 cents in the app store.  iPad Note Taking Apps – OneNote, SimpleNote, SpringPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 9:06

Over the weekend we learned that Catch.com was closing its note-taking application for iPad. Catch was a great way to put notes together and tag them for search-ability. However, some of you may need an alternative to this service - not including Evernote (which is a great app in its own right). Oh yeah. Yes. I am sunburned... SpringPad for iPad The first of three is called Springpad by Spring Partners. It is more than a note-taking app, its also a great way to find a new recipe or put together that to-do list. By syncing these notes with computer, you can easily organize and keep track of your projects. From making plans, to-do lists, private notes and more. Simplenote for iPad This app does just that - keeps it simple. Simplenote by Codality also lets you create notes and sync them with other devices. Put all your notes into different categories so you can call up, share and even print out. Simplenote also has an upgrade to premium for $19.99 Microsoft OneNote for iPad A part of Office365, Microsoft OneNote for iPad - Microsoft Corporation is a great companion app to put all your notes together. Connecting the app to SkyDrive, you can even sign in to a SharePoint account to share with your organization. Then, you can bring these notes into Office365 to add to other projects. Create to-do lists, budget breakdowns or add your own notes, links and more so you don't forget about something you've seen or done.  Table Top Translator Turns iPad into Translation Device | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 8:01

If you need an app that will translate English into Spanish, French into German or whatever the case, then take a look at TableTop Translator by SayHi. This app will allow the iPad to get the word out to whomever you need to speak with. The iPad sits on the table in-between both of you. You can speak into the translator or type in text. Text-to-translate voices will repeat in their tongue whatever you have said. Table Top Translator has over 40 translators in the app. If you add premium support, you will get over twice as many languages and dialects to speak in (sorry, no Klingon or Wookie). Premium support is a monthly or yearly fee. The only downfall - you need Wifi or another connection for this program to work. It needs to connect to the speech server to translate. If you need to sit with someone for a drink or haggle over a business deal, this is the perfect app to have. Check out the previous iPad app – Best iPad RSS Readers, Digg, Flipboard, Feedly

Best iPad RSS Reader: Flipboard, Feedly, Digg and More | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 9:42

Today I take a look at RSS feed readers for your iPad. Last week, Google took down their reader service and two companies worked hard to get their replacements out there. There are a lot of RSS feed reader apps out there, some free and others with a purchase. I take a look at 4 readers I have on my iPad and if they are any good. Digg - Digg Digg was a company owned by Kevin Rose. They were the first to put the badges on the page that would tell you how popular your articles were. You could Digg them up or Digg down. Since then, the company went under new management and a new direction was formed. Digg brought out their RSS reader for iPad last week. You can easily import your Google Reader information, along with new RSS feed info. Flipboard: Your Social News Magazine - Flipboard Inc. I talked about Flipboard last year on the show. A lot of it still hold true. You can collect search information, RSS feeds and more, then put them into your own categories and make little digital magazines from them. I use Flipboard a lot when it comes to reading news. Flipboard links with Facebook, Twitter and Google+ for the ability to pull social network found articles. Best part is the easy link to websites (which I feel is important to give some love back). Flipboard is free and available now. Feedly: Your Google Reader, Youtube, Google News, RSS News Reader - DevHD I cannot say much for this app because it's currently broken for the iPad. Every time you load it up, Feedly says it's over capacity. I tried to use a webpage to call up my feedly account, however, it just sits at the authentication. What I can pull up from feedly is searches and top articles. You can get an idea of how Feedly is going to run. Unfortunately for now, you can only use Feedly on your PC or Mac, or if you have an Android device (which also had the problem but was fixed). Other RSS Readers for iPad Props go out to Mobile Reader for FARK® - Rade Eccles. Fark has been around the longest and although its not a true feed reader, people can submit articles to be featured on Fark. The titles are snarky and there is a lot of good discussion on this website. Another one I looked at was Feeddler RSS Reader Pro - C.B. Liu The app has a free and paid version ($4.99). Feedler syncs with many different readers so if you use multiple readers, you have one iPad app to pull data from.

Google Drive for iPad – Create and Manage Documents on the iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 7:21

I have used Google docs for a few years now - ever since it was a simple document editor to what it has become today. You can create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more. So with Google Drive - Google, Inc.you now have the ability to get those documents on your iPad. Google Drive is available for free and comes with 5 GB of storage (with additional storage price options). You can create or edit documents, set sharing, set for offline viewing and more. Google Drive can also be accessed on your computer, iOS or Android device

Paypal iPad App, ErgoTech VersaStand Turns Your iPad into a Cash Register | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 12:18

The coolest thing about your business is you can start taking credit cards even if you don't have a phone line or conventional storefront. There are a few programs out there that you can connect to your iPad, iPhone or even Android device. I show off the Paypal app (because I use Paypal) but its also important to note that Square is also doing something similar. Download the app and apply to accept cards. You will get a dongle in the mail to use. Best part is the connector plugs into your headphone jack so you don't have to worry about what version iPad you have. You can set up your Paypal app with products and bar codes for easier payments. When ready, they can give you a Paypal address connection, pay with cash or swipe the credit card. If you forgot the credit card swipe, don't worry. You can manually enter a card, or get an OCR of their card. Simply position the camera in front of the camera and let the app do the rest. Paypal takes 2.7% while Square takes 2.75%. I also take a look at the VersaStand - an iPad stand that debuted at MacWorld. VersaStand allows you to adjust in multiple positions. The back of the stand easily clips and unclips to the iPad. Its a perfect stand for your remote cash register.(www.ergofreedomline.com) Get Ergotech Versa Stand at Amazon

CamCard HD Organizes Business Cards to Contacts for iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 6:42

Looking for a card reader for your iPad, check out CamCard HD - The Professional Business Card Reader - IntSig Information Co.,Ltd. You can import your business cards through the camera and run OCR to detect the name, email, website and more. You can keep the business card picture on the iPad, take a picture of the back or remove it altogether. You can save your contacts to iPhone, Gmail or other accounts. There is even a batch scan option - when you are taking the picture, change the slider to multiple business cards. Then just snap a card then move to the next. When you are done, check the cards for spelling and other OCR mistakes. When all is good, check it off and share it to your lists. You can even send email right away. Best part - CamCard has a QR code option - pull up a card and choose the QR code. Then others can scan the card and get the information on their phone. CamCard is $6.99 (they have a special going right now for $2.99).
