MagicalPad for iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 9:10

Remember how we used to take notes? Pad of paper and a pencil. But that has changed - it's been a long time since I've even picked up a pencil. But with the iPad changing the way we compute, we also have a program that changes the way we take notes. MagicalPad for iPad is a great way to take notes and more. It's an outliner, a mind mapper, a note taker and a todo list. It looks like a flow chart system without the shapes. It's not a flowchart though. Simply put notes in sections. One section might be your outline. The next might be a note or idea. Now you want to merge the two. With MagicalPad you draw lines from one area to another. Give it a natural flow to ideas. Maybe you put a note out of place. I remember many times where I would write a note I remembered later. When I went back to review my notes that out-of-place note didn't make sense. With this app, I can put the note in the right place so it all makes sense later. MagicalPad is .99 cents in the app store.  How to Host a GotoMeeting Session from iPad | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 12:01

A couple weeks ago Citrix announced you could start a GotoMeeting session from your iPad which changes the landscape for this virtual meeting software. Before you needed a PC or Mac to start the meeting and join in via tablet or smartphone. The news is for iPad only - Android users will still have to wait (although I'm guessing it will happen very soon). Also other iOS devices can only join a meeting. How to Host a GotoMeeting Session from iPad Download the GotoMeeting iOS app on your iPad Launch the app Choose "Host a Meeting" Log-in using your credentials Create a meeting or choose from any meeting you've previously set up. GotoMeeting with HD Faces Just like with the PC, you can use the iPad's webcam. You can set the webcam to see all participants (up to 6 webcams can be enabled during a meeting), who is talking or turn off the HD faces altogether. Of course using the HD faces takes up iPad resources including battery. What You Can Share on iPad GotoMeeting There is a limitation of what you can share. You get three options: Whiteboard Share a webpage Share an item from Dropbox or Sharefile (also by Citrix). The iPad has functions to change presenters and administer the meeting. When it's done you can choose to end the meeting or pass it off to someone else. Citrix also recommends you have a stable Wi-fi connection as the iPad host. You can use 3G or 4G if needed.  Money for iPad – Balance Your Expenses | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 7:18

I remember my Mom using her check register to continually balance her checking account. When I first had a checkbook, I did that too. However I don't carry a checkbook normally but I do carry my iPad. So why not have an app that will help balance my expenses. That is what Money for iPad is about. It figures out your bills and lets you schedule your accounts. If you get a weekly check, it will place it in for you. If you have a monthly bill it will deduct it. Add in other expenses to keep track of for taxes or just to make sure you don't go over on your account. Money for iPad is free - there is a full version for $9.99.  Prezi Viewer for iPad Creates Awesome Presentations | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 5:11

You can use your iPad to give a great presentation for your colleagues, employees or anyone with Prezi Viewer. The viewer is part of a larger software you can use to make free flowing power point presentations. Long gone are the old powerpoints that can bore the conference room. You start by logging into Prezi.com. Go into the presentation creator. Use the templates or create your own presentation from scratch. Add hotpoints to where the presentation will switch to. The whole presentation will fit on one page but will turn, spin, zoom in and out to go from location to location. Add photos, video and even old Powerpoint presentations to your Prezi. When done you can save it, share with the public or get ready to send to the viewer (you cannot create a Prezi on the iPad [yet]). Upload the Prezi to your iPad and be ready for that sales meeting, business pitch, conference session or other event. You can share the presentation so if people are in other locations or everyone is sitting in front of their computers you can send to them for review. Watch the presentation I created for this episode of iPad365 on Prezi Prezi is free to use with 100 MB storage and basic features. Additional price plans starting at $4.92 / month add logos, premium support and more storage space. Check out the previous iPad app – Bobblehead Wisdom: Office Edition

WorldCard HD for iPad – New Apple Earpods Earbuds | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 12:10

I go to a lot of events and collect many business cards. I used to come back home and spend a couple hours scanning those cards into my computer. Now, I have the iPad and a few programs that can take pictures and OCR to get information. One of those programs is WorldCard HD. This card scanner is geared for those people who get cards from around the country. The app will take a picture of the card and use OCR technology to recognize the text. Why Having a Clean Business Card is Important. If I scan these cards, I am going from one card to the next. I try to make sure all email info is correct, but if a card is hard to read and the program cannot OCR the text, I might just throw the card away. You could lose sales simply by your unreadable card. Options of WorldCard HD WorldCard HD has the ability to scan and recognize in multiple languages. Therefore, if you go to China or Mexico and deal with cards you can still get them cataloged. WorldCard HD lets you upload to dropbox or iCloud and also can keep the picture of the card on file. You can even scan the back if necessary. WorldCard HD is $14.99 in the app store. Apple Earpods on the iPad Apple came out with a new set of earbuds for the iPhone5. I take a listen to them using the iPad and show you the new design. The earbuds are exactly like the old ones in every other way. The new ear speaker configuration brings a better sound without blocking the ambient sounds. These new Earpods cost $29.00 on their own.  Forget an iPad Mini, I Want More Power! – mSecure iPad app | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 10:45

Lately, we have passwords for everything. I continue to get emails stating they had to reset my password because of a breech. So keeping track of passwords can get tough. Using a program like mSecure can help. It holds important password information, email settings, combination lock numbers, credit cards and more. Using 256 bit Blowfish encryption, people cannot get into your data. You can sync with a Dropbox so your information is not just on one device. mSecure has a passlock option to the program. That way you don't need to lock your iPad, but your data is safe. You can choose to self-destruct data after a number of attempts. This app, by mSeven Software, is $9.99 and available now. I want a more powerful iPad. Not an iPad Mini The rumor on the street is an iPad mini will be released. This is a 7" iPad to compete with Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble Nook and others. While I don't mind Apple making a mini version, I am really hoping they will compete with the current Microsoft announcement, and make a more powerful iPad - Possibly with an Intel i5 processor inside. The biggest selling point of the Microsoft Surface tablet will be the unified code. What you write for the desktop, will easily move to your tablet. With iPad, you have to write a separate program if you want it on the Mac. with an i5 processor, 64-128 GB of storage and 2GB internal RAM, I could easily turn my tablet into a desktop, and run more complex programs. I also wouldn't have to carry a big laptop or even a Macbook Air with me. Just 1-2 iPads. The iPad Mini will suffice for the people who just email or surf the web.  Quick Tap Survey Turns iPad into Survey Tool | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 8:12

Sometimes, in order to keep customers coming in, you have to collect some data. Especially an email address, so you can let them know what's going on. Surveys are great for collecting data, especially if you do not have a store front. Maybe you are at a conference, and want to collect information from your fans. That is where Quick Tap Survey comes in. It's a survey tool that you could put into a kiosk, but you might find you'll get more response if you actually help with the survey. What you do is go to the Quick Tap website and register. There are two plans - free, and premium. Free plans allow one survey from their choices, and premium gives you more customized surveys - including putting your brand and logos on it. Set up the surveys from a computer. When ready, publish those surveys, then sync them on the iPad. If you are polling people in an area that doesn't have wifi access, the iPad will hold all data until you get to a connection. It will then sync with the main database, for someone to see from any desktop or notebook. Check out the previous iPad app – Gothams Most Wanted

Zoho Docs for iPad – I Look at iPad Mini Rumors | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: 7:36

Before I started using Google Docs - because I didn't want to move files from laptop to desktop to edit - I was using Zoho. With an online document editor and spreadsheet program, I could work and go without wondering where the most current version of the file was. In fact, I used ZOHO to put together the majority of the Day in Tech History data. ZOHO Docs app for iPad is a continuation of that system. Since your files are in the cloud, you can easily access on the iPad to view, or continue working. ZOHO lets you view documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDF files that you have stored. With the sharing feature, you can set others up to view, or edit documents. I always called ZOHO my secret stash. ZOHO also had a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system that was pretty impressive. The ZOHO CRM app is separate, but is a great way to keep up with customers. Both apps are available on all iOS devices, as well as Android. Subscribe to iPad365 on iTunes – iPad365 RSS - Twitter: @iPad365 - YouTube iPad365 Playlist I also look at the Rumor mill- more to the point, a mini iPad. Will there be a 7.85" iPad? I believe so. They have to compete with the Kindle Fire and Google Q - price and size. The real question is if it would take over as the newest iPod. Would you buy a smaller version of an iPad? Let me know!
