On episode #47 we have Trevor Timm from the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF) talking about their privacy efforts and drones. Also up for discussion from the great state of Texas, HB 912.

The FAA let slip the SFAR one more time. This sequel is bordering on the obtuse, but gives us plenty to discuss as we share commentary on the ramifications for the U.S. UAS community.    On the bright side...   We’ll be discussing the upcoming Small Unmanned Systems Business Exposition set for July.   Last but not least…   The Berkeley, Drone Town Hall Meeting. This one has almost a serial quality as the dynamic duo head back to Berkeley California to espouse the potential of unmanned systems technology.

All Weather Sense and Avoid System ADS-B and the potential it holds for integration of UAS into the National Airspace System (NAS). This weeks guests are Dr. V. Michael Contarino, Honorable Richard "Dick" Healing and RaNea Contarino.

Gene will be calling in from a controlled burn in central Texas. Listeners will get a firsthand account and description of the deployment of the Super Bat UAS for firefighting applications live from the field.

Chad Partridge and I discuss the take away from the Drone Law: Opportunities, Risks, and the Future discussion at U.C. Berkley Law School. We’ll recap some of the reservations and misconceptions that were expressed by this diverse group.

Episode #36     We speak with Mr. Gus Calderon and Mr. James Jewel. Mr. Calderon is applying for an exemption to 14 CFR parts 21.191 and 91.319 in a bid to operate his sUAS commercially in the NAS. Mr. Jewel will share some information about the development of FAR 107, NextGEN, and some other timely UAS topics.

We will hear about some real world applications for small unmanned aircraft by the U.S. Geological Survey. 

Episode #34’s guest is Doug Davis, Director of Global UAS Strategic Initiatives at the NMSU PSL.   Mr. Davis has been a long time contributing member of the unmanned aviation community. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear about the Global UAS airspace integration effort past, present and future.   

We wrap everything up nicely and put a bow on 2012 with guest co-host sUAS News Executive Editor Gary Mortimer. We also wax nostalgically on the significant stories and technology breakthroughs of the past year as well as some predictions and plans for the unmanned technology sector in 2013.
