Castiglia began leading his own band not long after Wells passed away in 1998. More people probably know the songs written by Tony Joe White's than know the man who wrote them. In the late 60. White went to #2 on the Top 40 charts with the song "Polk Salad Annie." A couple years later, Brook Benton rode White's "Rainy Night in Georgia" to fame. Along the way, he penned songs covered by Tina Turner, Elvis, Ray Charles, Etta James, and others. Since the days of "Polk Salad," White has recorded a number of critically acclaimed albums, including this years "The Shine."
