More people probably know the songs written by Tony Joe White's than know the man who wrote them. In the late 60. White went to #2 on the Top 40 charts with the song "Polk Salad Annie." A couple years later, Brook Benton rode White's "Rainy Night in Georgia" to fame. Along the way, he penned songs covered by Tina Turner, Elvis, Ray Charles, Etta James, and others.
