fun fiddle tune
On fiddle, then on whistle. All are in G. In the Irish sessions, they almost always play sets of three tunes. The first set I concocted I call my Irish-American set. All of the Irish tunes are forerunners of American old time tunes (i.e. very similar). Teetotaler or Temperance Reel - Irish or old time titles Green Fields of America - Irish = Old Mother Flanagan (from Lee Triplett, WV) or Shippensport - old time; I start the fiddle on the part most compatible with the Irish set version on whistle; also I've given you two ways to play Old Mother Flanagan Honeymoon Reel - Irish = Crocket's Honeymoon - old time

I transcribed this August 29th, 1989 from an LP of the Chieftains with Sean Keane playing the fiddle. I got it as close as I could and spent a great deal of time learning to play through it. It's still one of my favorite fiddle tunes after all these years.
