Comic Book Page Podcast show

Comic Book Page Podcast

Summary: The Comic Book Page family of podcasts are hosted by John Mayo, a comic book fan who has been reading comics for decades. John buys and reads an average of three or four dozen new comics every week. Every Monday is the Weekly Comics Spotlight with reviews of a current comic by DC, a current comics by Marvel, and a current comic by some other publisher. Once a month are the two Mayo Report episodes. One covers the top 300 comic book sales through Diamond Comics Distribution and the other covers the top trades, hardcovers and other collected editions. Each month the Previews Spotlight goes over the hightlights of the Diamond Previews and Marvel Previews. On occasional, a Back Issue Spotlight will be released covering a comic book story arc from years past. Round Table Discussions on a comic book related topic or recent convention are done on a sporadic basis.

 Mayo Report: 2007-06 Trades | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 80:39

Once again, I'm joined by Chris Marshall of the award nominated Collected Comic Library podcast to discuss the sales estimates for the top 100 graphic novels and collected editions for June 2007. There were some technical issues this time around and there are some dropouts on the audio in place when Chris is talking. But, given that the the program I used to record the conversation crashed every time I tried to save the conversation as an mp3 file, I think I was lucky to get the episode put together at all...

Comic Book Podcasting: One Year Later | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 93:37

I was on the Comic Book Podcasting: One Year Later panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego this year. The guys over at iFanboy.com were kind enough to record it and let the rest of us release it on our feeds. Here is the official description of the panel from the Comic-Con website: Comic Book Podcasting: One Year Later - Since the first gathering of comic book podcasters last year, podcasting has become a mainstay in the comic book community. With more showing up every day, podcasts have become just as big a part of reading comics as going to the shop on wednesdays. Come hear from the voices behind some of your favorite shows. This year's panel includes podcasters Scott Hinze (Fanboy Radio), Jon Towry (Comic Talk Cafe), Jimmy Aquino (Comic News Insider), Mr. Phil (Indie Spinner Rack), Josh Flanagan (iFanboy.com), Ian Levenstein (Comic Timing), John Mayo (Comic Book Page), and will be moderated by comic book writer and retailer Vito Delsante (Stuck, JSA Classified). ROOM 8 Thursday at 5:30-7:00pm

How The Boys trade paperback did for Dynamite Entertainment and how the first Lone Ranger trade might do... How Amazing Spider-Man's upcoming shift to thrice-monthly might play out on the trade paperback side of the equation... The upcoming Comic-Con International: San Diego convention...

Here are links to the ICv2 Article on 300 hard cover sales in the mass market outlets and the ICv2 article on the sales of the Mouse Guard hard cover in case anybody wants to read along. (And I want to thank Chris for pointing out these articles.)
