IT APPEARS that regardless of who wins the United States presidential election nine days from now, our drone war against suspected terrorists (and anyone within an acceptable radius, from a collateral damage standpoint) will continue without interruption. The CIA wants more drones and more places to launch them, the White House will still have a secret capture/kill list, and if you dare question the moral or constitutional justification for killing four-year-old girls over there to limit the possibility that four-year-old girls here get killed, well, you're "a horrible moron." Also: Fiscal cliff ahead; head of Bank of England admits that banks don't have enough capital; Sandy takes aim at East Coast; and something falls into a Mexican volcano. Forgive us -- we forgot to come back to the creepy story of the drone that "started its engine without any human direction, even though the ignition had been turned off and the fuel lines closed. Technicians concluded that a software bug had infected the 'brains' of the drone, but never pinpointed the problem." Obviously, there's a Cylon in your future. AN INTERESTING thing happened last week during congressional hearings and the vice presidential debate: It appears that the State Department and the White House are playing a game of C.Y.A. regarding the deadly attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The question is whether President Obama or Secretary of State Clinton will take the fall. Both parties seem more than willing to let the other do the honors. Elsewhere: Turks and Syrians edge closer to war; Sen. Arlen Specter dies; Barack Obama's "no god but Allah" ring; BBC film crew detained at Area 51; and the Brits develop anti-alien weapons. IT SOUNDS like science fiction. Or possibly like something from the New Age movement. Discoveries from the world of physics make it appear that the universe is a lot less "real" than we think. And yet a careful analysis suggests that it's all part of an elegant and unimaginably complex design. IN LIEU of our take on the news this week -- we really don't want to rehash the political conventions -- we decided to bring back an interview from our first year on the web. In the fall of 2005, in the middle of the most intense Atlantic hurricane season ever (Katrina, Rita, and Wilma are, as of this writing, three of the six most intense hurricanes recorded) and following a destructive earthquake in Pakistan that killed an estimated 75,000 people, we spoke with Stan Deyo, CEO of Halo Orbital Technologies. His life story reads like a sci-fi thriller -- except that readers might find the plot too "out there" even for fiction. His resume includes Above Top Secret security clearance, undercover work for the FBI, and work on a black budget project developing "flying saucer" propulsion technology under Dr. Edward Teller. He's also a computer programmer in seven languages, the author of two books and five scientific papers, a university lecturer in 3D computer animation and graphic art, and an amateur archeologist in the Middle East where he believes he's found the location of the Garden of Eden. (We didn’t even get a chance to talk about that.) Stan discussed his earthquake prediction maps, which are based on ocean temperature data provided by the U.S. Navy. He’s been accurate approaching 80 to 90 percent of the time, to the point that it appears the Navy is withholding information from Stan from time to time. We got his assessment of the killer quake in Pakistan. He also talked about his work on anti-gravity, research that almost got him killed at the bottom of a mile-deep mine shaft in Australia. Stan says this technology is in use today, but not by any national government. Governments change, but the men and women who hold real power in this world pass it down from generation to generation and they have no national loyalties. IT WOULD probably shock many at the Democratic Party's National Convention this week, but mathematics -- a discipline that relies on cold, hard facts -- actually makes a strong case for the existence and divinity of Jesus. Stephen Bauer, USA (Ret.), who served longer as a Military Social Aide than anyone in the history of the White House, discusses his book, The Math of Christ, and the use of simple mathematics to evaluate whether Christ fulfilled forty prophecies from the Old Testament and is the Messiah spoken of by the Bible. THERE IS never a dull week in the Middle East. We learned that a draft report commissioned by the intelligence services of the United States recommends preparing for "a post-Israel Middle East." We also learned that a high-ranking Navy officer in 2007 wanted to provoke Iran into a war, Doctor Strangelove-style. Meanwhile, the USS Stennis battle group sailed for the Persian Gulf yesterday from San Diego, four months earlier than originally planned, reportedly due to increasing tensions with Iran. IT'S HARD to believe, but seven years ago almost to the day we recorded a program on PID Radio about the impending landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Now, we look at the forecasts and see meteorologists warning that Tropical Storm Isaac may "even rival Hurricane Katrina in its destructive power."
