  Thank you for all of your kind e-mails and comments asking for the podcast to return.  Things got crazy with the move and the holidays, but I’m so glad that we have a new episode for you today!  It’s the first of 2016!  Hooray! We have two guests on the podcast today! Nathalie Kalbach was born in Germany and lived most of her adult life in Hamburg before moving to the United States in September 2013. She worked as a paralegal for seventeen years and might have remained in the wrong profession had she not discovered mixed media painting in 2004. Nathalie’s work been published in several craft and hobby magazines as well as mixed-media books. She teaches at many retail events and art retreats, as well as at trade shows and since early 2015 has taught mixed-media workhops at Pratt Institute for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. She is the founder and sole organizer of the annual Creative JumpStart Summit (CJS) now in its 5th year. Nathalie’s artwork is licensed through StencilGirl Products (stencils) and Stampendous (rubber stamp, foam stamp and template sets) and as a prior ambassador for Liquitex, her work has been featured on the packaging for Liquitex acrylic paint sets. Rachel has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at University, is a Ranger Certified Educator, and has been involved in the creative arts field for over 20 years. Rachel was awarded the ‘Master of Scrapbooking’ by Scrapbooking Memories magazine in 2001 and became Photography Editor of My Reflections magazine and Scrapbooking Memories magazine for several years. Her photography articles and craft projects continue to be published in many books and magazines, including Somerset Studio, The Stampers Sampler, Take Ten, and Craft Stamper to name a few. She has appeared on QVC UK TV and makes regular appearances on Scrap It TV. In 2007, Rachel and her husband Stewart started a rubber stamp company called Darkroom Door. From humble beginnings in Rachel’s photography studio, Darkroom Door moved it’s headquarters in 2009 to a larger studio and warehouse where they design, manufacture and distribute Darkroom Door products within Australia and now export to more than 18 countries worldwide. I’m delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!  Today’s guest is Jodi Ohl. Jodi Ohl is a self-taught mixed media artist, originally from Dunkirk, NY, who now resides in Aberdeen, NC. Having recently left her day job to pursue her artistic career full time, she is has built a body of work that is known for its distinctive texture, bold color combinations which are often whimsical or abstract compositions, as well as motivational in nature.  Her art appeals to those that seem to be young at heart and who appreciate the positive side of life whether communicated through words, colors, or composition. Published in over 23 international mixed media magazines such as Cloth Paper Scissors, Somerset Studios, Artful Blogging, Artful Journaling, Somerset Holidays and Celebrations, and Cloth Paper Scissors Studios, as well as a contributor to five  mixed media books. In 2014, Jodi’s painting,  “It’s Not Complicated” (part of her Pod and Portals collection)  was juried as one of the best of Mixed Media and featured in “Incite 2″ by Tonia Jenny of North Light Books. Jodi enjoys writing about her art and sharing the love of healing and motivation through creativity.  She is represented by regional galleries in North Carolina and several others along the East Coast.  In addition, Jodi is a popular mixed media art teacher online and in person, teaching at both large and small local and national workshops around the US. When not painting, she enjoys time with her two sons, Josh, 15and Zach, 21as well as other friends and family. She is an accomplished, self-taught, mixed media artist whose style is colorful and ranges from whimsical to spiritual with a strong Folk Art influence. She hosts a successful Meet-Up group with monthly classes in her Montclair studio, and also teaches at The Ink Pad in New York City, and Art-Is-You Mixed Media Retreats, as well as in online classes. Her designs may be found worldwide on greeting cards, fabrics, and tabletop ceramics. Jessica is proud to design stencils for Stencil Girl Products, stamps for Rubbermoon, and Judaica products for Aviv Judaica. Jessica keeps an active Facebook page, regularly blogs, and is represented for licensing by Creative Connection, Inc. In 2009, Sizzix launched her signature line of ScoreBoards™ dies, which are specially designed to cut and score matboard and thicker materials. Her twelfth Sizzix collection, Stitchlits, will be released in October, 2015. I’m delighted to bring you another episode of the Adventures in Arting Podcast!  Our guest today is Leslie Tucker Jenison. Leslie Tucker Jenison is an award-winning artist who works with cloth and paper. Surface design using dye and paint are integral components of her work, which has been shown internationally. She has written and been featured in numerous publications, has made several appearances on Quilting Arts TV, and has produced a surface design workshop DVD for Interweave. Leslie serves on the board of the Quilt Alliance, & is a member of numerous local and national quilt and surface design organizations.  Leslie curates exhibitions as half of “Dinner At Eight Artists.” Besides teaching workshops Leslie enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and is a private pilot.   She is married and has 3 daughters, all artists.  Life is good! Leslie has several upcoming events of interest: * Jamie Fingal and Leslie are curating year 3 of “What’s For Dinner?” which will debut at the International Quilt Festival in October, 2015. * They are also curating “Affinity” for Dinner At Eight Artists, also debuting at the International Quilt Festival in October, 2015. * Leslie will be participating in the 2nd “Not Fade Away” conference, sponsored by the Quilt Alliance, in Herndon VA in July, 2015. * Leslie is also about to begin a big remodel of her studio (YAY and UGH, simultaneously!).
