Talking Smooth Jazz

It has been a helluva two-years since guitarist Jeff Golub released his last album, "Three Kings," which paid tribute to blues legends B.B King, Freddie & Albert King.  As the record was released, the optic nerves in Golub's eyes inexplicably collapsed leaving him blind. Adjusting to his new life meant adopting Luke, a guide dog. While attempting to catch a New York City subway last September, Golub fell onto the tracks as a train rapidly approached.  He was clipped and dragged by the train as Luke and bystanders frantically attempted to help.  Miraculously Golub escaped the harrowing and what could have been a fatal ordeal with only minor scrapes and bruises.  Undaunted and as boisterous as ever, Golub stands defiantly, toting his guitar with Luke perched at his feet, at the crossroads of train tracks on the cover of his aptly titled new album, "Train Keeps A Rolling." 

Delton Walker is an artist in the Jazz circuit that combines elements of Jazz, R&B and Funk.  Following the release of “Back In Your Arms Again” in 2009, Delton returns to talk about his next release “Back On Track” due for release in the spring of 2013.  

J. Henry does it again, this time with the legendary R&B group The Rude Boys (Written All Over Your Face)!  Let Me Be The One is sure to be a future classic as J. Henry, Joey Little Jr., Keni Myles, and Gee Labeaud team up to bring classic music back! But we'll let you be the judge! 

First New CD in Five Years, Moore Is More, Set For Release July 30, 2013 Chanté's effortless combination of R&B soaked in gospel roots, soul accents kissed with a touch of jazz and grace with fire, coalesce on her Shanachie Entertainment debut, Moore Is More. Chanté wrote or co-wrote most of the songs featured on the new CD. We'll talk to Chante about her new project and her role on TV One's R&B Divas.

Aniya is a group of 6 individuals with one common goal of turning people on to jazz music. "Our music is a collage of smooth jazz, traditional, Neo-Soul, Latin, Gospel, and Hip Hop. Some people call this music Acid Jazz, we call it good music."   Guitarist, Delbert Boyer joins us to talk about their current release, Full Circle.

His incomprehensible style will stay with you long after the show is over.  It has also been rumored that Gene-o could be a distant relation to the late great Nat King Cole which you to will witness when you are captured by his charisma, soft loving yet strong capturing voice.

Talking Smooth Jazz welcomes the group ZOE to talk about their new cd, Unstoppable.  Zoe is one of the hottest Smooth Jazz bands originating from the South Jersey / Philadelphia area. The group is comprised of five talented musicians whose melodic compositions produce extraordinarily compelling music. Currently, members of ZOÉ include: saxophonist Reggie Harris, keyboardist Cleveland Belin Jr., drummer David Ferebee, bassist H. Maurice Fonville and percussionist / trumpeter Bolivar "Chico" Guadalupe, all of which contribute to the original songwriting and vocals.

Guitarist Bryan Lubeck returns to Talking Smooth Jazz with a new cd called Tuscan Sky.  The CD brings the majesty of the Spanish guitar into a new age of infectious grooves and soaring strings.  Features some of today's top soloists and a bonus track co-written with Grammy Award winner Jim Peterik.  

Ms. Theresa Randleman, CEO of T-Rose Entertainment, returns to talk about the The Motown Jazz Xperience, a collaboration of Detroit based jazz musicians united to bring forth a selection of melodic tunes from their libraries and musical experiences as Motown Jazz musicians. The Motown Jazz Xperience will be performing at the Detroit Riverwalk Jazz series on Thursday, July 4, 2013.  

Talking Smooth Jazz welcomes Keyboardist Cal Harris, Jr. to talk about his sophomore project called "Shelter Island" featuring saxophonists Marion Meadows, Elan Trotman and guitarist Joel Del Rosario.

The Detroit River Walk Jazz and Soul Concert Series is a bi-weekly Thursday night Jazz series beginning June 20 and will feature an array of local, national and international Jazz artists, including, The flutist Kim Scott, Motown Jazz XPerience, Karen Briggs and Gail Jhonson, on the garden patio of Robert's River Walk Hotel on the river.  Produced by T. ROSE Entertainment, a Michigan-based entertainment management firm specializing in jazz musician management, event bookings, tour management, concert/festival bookings, promotions and consultation.  The Founder and CEO, Ms. Theresa Randleman, talks to the Jazz Queen about the jazz series.

Guitarist Andrea Razzauti releases his label debut project on Woodward Avenue called "Front Street."  Produced by Paul Brown it features the legendary Patti Austin, labelmate saxophonist Elan Trotman, keyboardist Greg Karukas and more. Take Ella Fitzgerald's clear vocal tone, Jill Scott's spunk, and Chaka Khan's funk and you have new jazz vocalist Rajdulari Barnes.  At age 17, she was offered her first gig at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, and later shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin while attending Berklee. The Jazz Queen talks to Rajdulari about her career as a singer and model, her debut cd HoneyWine and her upcoming project, Journey of A Woman.
