Fingerprints, the popular Dallas based sextet, is known as “one of the best kept music secrets in the South.”  For many years standing room-only crowds have been lining up to hear the perfect blend of jazz and R&B by the Fingerprints musicians at venues and music festivals throughout the South and Southwest.  We welcome Fingerprints to talk about their new cd, Dream Life.

Maysa returns to Talking Smooth Jazz to talk about her 9th solo release, Motions of Love.

It's been almost two years since we've heard anything new from this Jazz Superstar.  His new cd "THIS HEART OF MINE" was released on October 25th.  JazzTimes Magazine says “Waters is simply one of the planet’s best saxophonists” while The Washington Post declares, “Kim Waters is like a romantic pied piper out on a long evening stroll.  Join us for our interview with Kim.

With the release of his first solo CD, saxophonist & Brooklyn native, Curtis Haywood recalls, "My first encounter with music is a story my mom passed on to me. I was about 5-6 yrs of age and I had received my first instrument –a trumpet. When it was bedtime I absolutely refused to go to bed without it. Now being of West-Indian descent, my parents were obviously not trying to have any ‘back mout' from dis here little child! Finally, convinced that they had lost the battle they allowed me to sleep with my trumpet."  Curtis joins us to talk about his current, self-titled cd.

Aaron Bing's talent began to shine at an early age, and by the time he was fifteen, he was playing professionally, performing with a wide range of local bands and also writing his own songs.  Even though he never really studied jazz, he was soon garnering rave reviews for his soulful sound.  We'll talk to Aaron about his career and Rebirth cd.

At the tender age of 10, J.White’s destiny was shaped when his mother forced him to join the band.  They walked into the room full of instruments and his mother asked him which one he wanted to play.  The 10 year old nonchalantly replied “I guess that one…I like the way it’s shaped.”  Little did he know he would one day come to be known as jazz saxophonist, J.White.  We welcome JWhite to the show to talk about his cd, A New Jazz Swagger.  

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia's southside, Bee Boisseau is a man of music.  He expanded upon his gospel music upbringing and jazz influences while studying at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. While in the area, Bee began playing with The Fuzz Band who has shared the stage with the likes of Lauren Hill, Avant, Jill Scott, Faith Evans, and many more.  Other artists that Bee has been blessed to play or record with include: Minister Ronzell Pretloe, Jackiem Joyner, Blake Aaron, Michael Lington, U-Nam, Will Donato, Nils, Warren Hill, Ray Parker Jr., Marcus Anderson, Matt Marshak, Marion Meadows, Eric Darius, Paul Taylor, Michael Lichton, Jay Soto, Kieth Staten, Craig Hayes, Benita Washington, Bubby Fann, Malcolm Williams, Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers, Hazel Miller and many others.

Talking Smooth Jazz welcomes Grammy award winning and Oscar nominated songwriter/producer/guitarist rock legend Jim Peterik to talk about his new cd, Lifeforce Forces At Play.  Lifeforce is Jim's expression of music he calls "jazz that rocks," reflecting many of has jazz, R&B and rock influences, coupled with his love of contemporary jazz.  The album features many of the genre top artists including Mindi Abair, Nick Colionne, Steve Cole, Acoustic Alchemy, Jim's son Sijay, and more.
