After Jesus miraculously provides bountiful fish for Peter and several other fisherman, Peter responds by confessing his sin. Jesus then calls Peter to follow him, a call that Jesus presents to us all as believers and disciples.
As an elder-led church, elders are very important in the life and body of our church. Matt discusses the role, authority, qualifications and responsibility of this shared office just as Stephen Jones is ceremonially ordained as the church's newest elder.
Bill White finishes chapter 4 in our Luke series by teaching that Jesus is not just someone who can sympathize with us, but one who has absolute authority and power over all things - the seen and the spiritual unseen.
As Jesus announced his role as Messiah, the people of his his town were both amazed and opposed. Matt explains that Jesus' coming exposed the hardness of their heart in their own expectations and rebellion toward God and His plan.
