The Goon Show

The boys are live from the Coaches Vs. Cancer Golf Tournament reception at Medlar Field. It was a great night with celebrity guests stopping on the show ranging from Jeremy Kapinos, Lydell Mitchell, Bruce Parkhill, Joe Crispin, Joe Battista, Tyler Smith, John Skorupan, and Jarrett Stephens. Mark Brennan also joins in to talk about the event and remember Pat Boland whose birthday would have been today. This could also be called the food episode, where Goon and company rate the food that comes along by the number of chins.

Fitz joins the boys to talk about summer workouts, which Goon and Sweeney got to see firsthand today. Goon and Sweeney talk about the Shane Conlan Golf Tournament and Sweeney previews his feelings about Ohio State. Brian Siegrist and Al Karosas join us to talk about the upcoming Coaches vs. Cancer golf tournament.

John Bridgens adds some variety to the show by filling in for Sweeney. Goon and John are joined by Mark Brennan of Fight On State to discuss recruiting and the current team. Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli also appears on the show to discuss advancements in sports medicine and talks about concussions. He also shares some stories about working with Adam Taliaferro, Joe Paterno, and the time he worked on Goon. John and Goon also discuss the recent comments by Jim Delaney on not having home playoff games in favor of holding them at The Rose Bowl. Goon also gives a little promo for the upcoming Penn State Coaches vs Cancer golf tournament.

The Guys were joined by Tim Bream, head athletic trainer for Football at Penn State. The boys talked Flyers meltdown, Phillies struggles, and the Pirates pursuit of .500. They talk about Bream's past, innovations in medical treatment in athletics, Smith, Mauti, Fortt. Goon and Sweeney also talk about scheduling and Pitt.

Goon and Sweeney talk volleyball with PSU Women's head coach Russ Rose. They also talk about Greg Schiano's move to sign Eric LeGrand, Junior Seau and the long term effects of playing football, and the suspensions levied on Saints players. Nate Mink of statecollege.com joins us to talk about his week of following the Coaches Caravan to every stop, and an article that he wrote about Penn State's new approach to football ticket sales.

Goon and Sweeney were joined by a very special guest tonight. Coach Bill O'Brien stopped down to the show to kick it around with the boys for about an hour and a half. It was a little different than a press conference! They talked about spring football, the Blue White Game, and The Draft from a coach's perspective. Coach also answers questions from listeners. Justin Kurpeikis also stops down to talk about the fundraiser he held last night here at The G-Man for Operation Small Steps.

We had a star studded lineup for Blue White week! Goon and Sweeney are joined by Chaz Powell, Jack Crawford, and Derek Moye to talk about their Penn State Careers and prepping for the NFL Draft. Ki-Jana Carter joins his old teammate, Goon. And finally Mark Brennan of Fight On State gives a preview of the Blue White game and gives his take on Spring Ball.

Goon and Sweeney were joined by PSU Hockey Coach Guy Gadowsky, where they talk pro hockey along with PSU Hockey and the transition to Division I. Goon talks about his trip to Pittsburgh and the Flyers v Penguins series. The guys also talk about Bobby Petrino and the Baylor investigation.

Goon and Sweeney lead the show off with a surprise guest...Head PSU Football Coach Bill O'Brien, who smacks down any kind of talk about oversigning and emphasizes his commitment to doing it the right way. Next up is "Ironhead" Jeff Byers, to talk about the B1G Wrestling Tournament and previews the NCAA Wrestling Tournament. Finally, the legendary Fran Fisher, the original voice of Penn State, puts on the headset and has some fun with the guys. We had a had a lot of fun and think you'll enjoy the show. Goon and Sweeney recap junior recruiting, talk to Jacqui and Nick about their THON experience. John Butler, the new PSU Football DB Coach, steps in and talks about growing up with Goon and his arrival to Penn State, and also takes some questions from Redman, caller from Oreland, PA. Our friend Justin Ruffo, a PSU student currently serving in Afghanistan calls in from overseas, for our first intercontinental call. Scott Balboni talks about the upcoming MMA fight he is promoting at Tussey Mountain.
