In this episode of Paranormal Underground Radio, we talk with Bill Sweet of SpindriftResearch.org, an organization that explores consciousness and prayer with scientific method. Bill is the author of the book A Journey Into Prayer: Pioneers of Prayer in the Laboratory. Bill joins us to discuss his involvement with Spindrift Research, an organization started by Bruce and John Klingbeil in 1969 to explore the connections between prayer, consciousness, and healing. Bill was always interested in paranormal phenomena including the spiritual phenomena of prayer. Through meeting the founders of Spindrift Inc., Bill began to grasp new ways of applying consciousness research to religion and science. He learned that the Klingbeils were healers who were doing scientific tests of consciousness and prayer. Bill Sweet was president of Spindrift for four years. The Spindrift research has been helpful in showing that aspects of prayer and consciousness are real phenomena and not the human imagination. Spindrift studied the positive effects, biased effects, and the dark effects coming from people’s prayers. Anhistorical tidbit is that before 9/11, Spindrift tried to get people to pay attention to the dark prayers that militant Muslims prayed toward Jews and Americans. Jeff’s interest in “Phenomena” began early in life. Born in Grand Haven, Michigan, Jeff would go to “Riverside Park” with family and friends to watch the “UFO’s” in the night skies. This interest expanded with time to include the paranormal, UFOlogy, demon possessions, urban legends, the occult, and many other subjects. Jeff became so interested in studying these phenomena that he carried a camera with him at all times starting at about 12 years of age. Jeff has been investigating for over 30 years and have worked with and founded many teams. In 2010, Jeff joined WCGAPS, the West Coast Ghost and Paranormal Society, a paranormal investigation team from Mesa, Arizona. He serves as the Operations Director for the group. With this group, he is able to do investigations in a manner consistent with his philosophy and explore some of the best locations locally and nationally. Neil began his study of paranormal phenomena through an association with noted California parapsychologist Loyd Auerbach in 1993. After seven years of independent research in parapsychology and paranormal investigation, Neil began a two-year term as lead field investigator for the Washington State Ghost Society. Since 2004, Neil has served as a parapsychology consultant for television, film, and print media, literary and other groups, and various paranormal organizations. Neil is also a popular presenter in parapsychology at the annual Port Gamble Ghost Conference. He is a member of the international Parapsychological Association, the Rhine Research Institute, and the Seattle Consciousness Education Research Society. Neil currently teaches “Paranormal Studies,” a college-level course in the science and history of paranormal investigation, which is offered year-round at community colleges in the greater Seattle area.
