Dr. Purnell is a board certified Family Practice Physician. She received her Medical Degree at Okayama University Medical School in Japan and earned her Educational Commission For Foreign Medical Graduate permanent certificate. She completed her family practice residency training at University of Hawaii Family Practice residency Program.  Dr. Purnell's special interests include food as medicine, regular exercise, stress management, integrative medicine, medical journalism and broadcasting, and therapeutic aspects of music, especially singing.  Dr. Purnell is also a singer/voice coach with classical and jazz background. In addition we’ll chat with animator Eugene Hamm, about his 18 minute short Cook For Your Life. When Brian Patton, a regular guy rather than a highfalutin chef, began posting videos on YouTube as his hilarious alter ego, “The Sexy Vegan,” he achieved celebrity status, including a book deal for his first book The Sexy Vegan Cookbook. In his new book, recipes include yamburger sliders, seven-second salsa, cucumber almond dates, and heart of palm ceviche. The book also has innovative delights such as rhubarb pancakes and rhubarb mimosas, because, as Brian writes, it's always 5 o’clock somewhere. Eugene Hamm is an animator whose 18 minute short COOK FOR YOUR LIFE is about a chicken, a pig, and a bull who wake up one morning to find they are the last three animals the farmer hasn't eaten and they have until lunchtime to turn him into a vegetarian. It is part comedy, part cooking show. Hamm is an animator on such shows as The Smurfs, Gumby, Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, Liquid Television and music videos.
