Lead Pastor, Greg Holder will be walking us through what it looks like to [Give More]. Think you know the answer to this one? Well hold on tight to your toboggans because you might be in for a surprise.
Are you familiar with this scenario? You only see Aunt Peggy once a year. She's coming for Christmas and you need to get her a gift. The pressure mounts and out of desperation you buy her a set of professional duck calls. Thing is, she doesn't hunt. In the end you don't know what you were thinking. Not a good thing for you, your wallet, or Aunt Peggy, right? This weekend we continue the Advent Conspiracy series with a look at how we can think differently when we feel the compulsion to shop for presents this year and how [Spending Less] can actually make a better Christmas.
The story of Christmas is approaching us faster than Clark Griswold on a Teflon-slick flexible metal flying saucer sled. As such, this weekend we will be switching tracks with a four-week study on Advent Conspiracy.
It isn't pretty, nobody wants it, and yet it's completely unavoidable. No, we're not talking about So You Think You Can Dance. We're talking about conflict. Everything is susceptible to conflict...even the church. Especially the church. This weekend we look at a moment in Acts where tension and frustration take hold, and how the leaders of the early church handled the situation without totally freaking out.
When God is at work, you have a couple of choices. You can dive in and be a part of His story, or you can get out of the way. One thing you can't do is stop God and His story. As we've been moving through Acts, we've seen this reality played out in many ways.
When it comes to giving, how much is enough? There are a few clues in scripture, but did you ever stop to think that maybe God isn't so concerned with how much you're giving as He is why you're giving? This weekend we're going to hear a story about a man who got this giving thing right and a couple who got it wrong (dead wrong, actually).
This weekend we'll look at a story in Acts where the disciples had to decide to either spread or stifle the good news of Christ. Their decision marked a significant moment that is still changing lives to this day.
What can process 36,000 bits of information every hour and drip like a faucet after watching Marley & Me? Your eyes. So why did God place such amazing mini supercomputers in our noggins? Well, this weekend, Associate Pastor Jon DuBroc will guide us through a compelling moment in Acts where a few men learned an entirely new way to see--and be seen.
"You'll never believe what happened next." Ever had someone say those words in the middle of a story? They're words to hang on, especially if the story was already amazing. That's sort of like where we're at with the book of Acts. Well, what happens now is so amazing it's hard to believe it really happened. But it did. It's a beautiful moment in scripture where the concept of community is lived out in ways never expected, and the power of God is demonstrated in miraculous ways. And the best part is, the same is possible for us here and now.
Frenzy. It could be described in other ways. But "frenzy" is a good word to describe what happens in the second chapter of Acts. From there we see clarity, community, and above all, mission. It's a beautiful part of the church's history and a breathtaking example of what is possible when people follow God.
It was only 30 years, but it was more than enough time to change the world. In fact, it was so explosive we can still feel the shockwave today. This weekend we embark on an amazing chronological look at how the church began by walking through the book of Acts. Join us as we start our new series, "When The World Changed."
Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors and...some are over at Kaldi's. A few are downtown. Three are visiting a few prisoners. And a whole bunch are growing a garden. Join us this weekend for part three in our Different Kind of DNA series. We'll hear from lead pastor Greg Holder on how "church" can wear many different hats and why Christianity wasn't made for couch potatoes.
What do a 135 mile foot race through Death Valley, the Garden of Eden, a neighborhood in Manchester and a Cardinal's jersey have in common? Well this weekend we hear from Judy West and Matt Lybarger as we continue with our series A Different Kind of DNA.
Have you ever had trouble describing The Crossing to someone? Ever wonder what drives the vision around this place? Well this weekend lead pastor Greg Holder kicks off our new series entitled A DIFFERENT KIND OF DNA.
What gets you going in the morning? Maybe it's a strong cup of 'jo. Maybe a jog. Or maybe a donut. Mmm...donuts. Don't miss this weekend as we hear a story about a man whose strange encounter with God got him going in a big way to do even bigger things in life.
