Thom Singer is the host of Cool Things Entrepreneurs Do and the interview is chock full of nuggets so Thom said to share it with my community! Do not miss it! Download MP3 Stick Like Glue Radio www.getjimpalmer.com On this episode of Stick Like Glue Radio, I flipped the table and shared an interview that someone did with me! Thom Singer is the host of Cool Things Entrepreneurs Do and the interview is chock full of nuggets, so Thom said to share it with my community!  Do not miss it! Main Questions Asked: What do you really like about the entrepreneur lifestyle? Is the newsletter still important to entrepreneurs? What advice do you have for people thinking of becoming an entrepreneur? What is something someone else is doing that is cool? What do you do to serve the greater good? Key Lessons Learned: The teacher always learns more. You need to stay top-of-mind for past customers and prospects, newsletters are a way to do that. Healthy profitable businesses have healthy relationships. Most businesses are built on the power of happy clients. People do business with people they know, like, or trust. Be sure to know if what you are offering is in demand, so you can make a business out of it. 100% of people who quit don’t make it to the top. Paid and un-paid speakers are both legitimate models.  As an unpaid speaker, you can make just as much money by selling your product at events as you can as a paid speaker. Boutique live events of 40-50 people in a room are a different and effective strategy. You are more likely to engage, interact and get to know the attendees in a smaller event than you are at an event of 5,000. It is a universal law that when you give, you will receive (and usually receive in higher proportion than what you give away). No matter where you are right now start giving away 10% (this includes time). If you want to ‘lock and load for results,’ make an agreement on who you are going to support and set it up for an automatic monthly debit. Compounded generosity will add up if you start early and consistently. You don’t have to be rich to make an impact on philanthropy. The way you live your life says more about what you do. This is a nugget rich and money saving show – do not miss it! Download MP3 Stick Like Glue Radio www.getjimpalmer.com On this episode of Stick Like Glue Radio I interview entrepreneur Joan Sotkin, author, coach, and business women who has helped thousands of people understand why they do what they do with their money and how to alter their financial behaviors. This is a nugget rich and money saving show – do not miss it! Main Questions Asked Can you share your backstory with us? Why do some people make a lot of money and others remain in the same position struggling? Do you agree with the message in the movie ‘The Secret?’ Why do you think that money is an emotional experience? What can people do to make a change in their emotional relationship with money? How can you identify which of your emotions are acting through money? What advice can you give people who have fear due to the financial condition of America? Key Lessons Learned A lot of what we learn about money comes from our parents The goal is to be financially and emotionally comfortable You have to change your thoughts. If you don’t know how to deal with money it wont happen or last Emotions Everything we do has an emotional base Emotions is the bridge between our internal and external world Emotion is the root and money is the mechanism Emotional issues are formed in early childhood are the thread affecting the fabric of the life you are weaving To change your emotional relationship with money you need to understand the relationship with yourself When you open a bill try closing your eyes and feel the kinesthetic experience of emotion in your body Money A lot of ‘making money’ is linked to what you are capable of and what you think you deserve When it comes to money; gross is for vanity and net is for sanity Money itself is not emotional its just pieces of paper Money is just a symbol of relationships Money is a great base for personal growth and development Learn how to manage your money as it gives you a sense to take care of yourself When you feel uncomfortable with your money its because you feel uncomfortable with yourself Craving money is exactly the same feeling as craving love Feelings and Fear Ask yourself: What am I feeling? When did I feel this before? Feelings are habits and a “song you learned to sing” The basis of trading on the stock market is fear and greed If you are afraid of what’s going to happen in the future then you are focused on the future and not the present When you feel fear ask yourself “what is my situation today? Do I have enough to eat? Do I have a place to stay? What can I do today that will protect myself tomorrow? When you are in fear you get stupid and can’t make good decisions Identity You can’t have a successful business if you have a failure identity If you don’t recognize the difference between a success identity and a failure identity any business knowledge wont make your business a success If having money doesn’t fit your self concept you will do anything to make it go way as it doesn’t ‘feel like you’ Links to Resources Mentioned Prosperity Place Debtors Anonymous Co-Dependents Anonymous Molecules of Emotion  The Newsletter Guru Dream Business Academy Click to Tweet What is your relationship with money and how can you change it?  @joansotkin chats w/ @newsletterguru http://www.getjimpalmer.com/ Do you have an emotional relationship with money? Posted in PodcastsPlay AudioPosted in PodcastsPlay Audio Stick Like Glue Radio #124 On this episode of Stick Like Glue Radio I interview entrepreneur and tax coach Diane Gardner, which works with entrepreneurs and small business owners all over country. This is a nugget rich and money saving show – do not miss it! Download MP3 Stick Like Glue Radio www.getjimpalmer.com On this episode of Stick Like Glue Radio I interview entrepreneur and tax coach Diane Gardner who works with entrepreneurs and small business owners all over country. This is a nugget rich and money saving show – do not miss it! Main Questions Asked What is a tax coach and why do small business owners and entrepreneurs need one? What are the biggest mistakes you see entrepreneurs and small business owners make when it comes to tax? How would a small business owner work with someone like yourself? Are there any general rules about LLC versus S-CORP? How does a business owner decide what type of business they should have? If someone is a solopreneur, how do they decide at what point to get financial help? What is the difference between tax preparation, tax projection and tax planning?   Key Lessons Learned Billions of dollars are overpaid each year by small business owners due to not taking advantage of deductions Less than common deductions can mean thousands of dollars each year on tax A tax coach takes a look at your tax and financial information, conducts analysis and identifies areas where you are possibly overpaying taxes Tax Mistakes  Businesses often outgrow their initial entity type e.g sole proprietor, LLC or S-Corp Having the wrong entity for your business is a big tax mistake that can cost you Deciding on your Entity An LLC is very flexible and can act like a sole proprietorship or a general partnership, S-Corp or C-Corp LLC are state controlled and some states don’t recognize or ‘like’ it When deciding on what kind of business you should be, it pays to do an in depth analysis from a liability and tax standpoint Ask yourself how much liability exposure you have in your business, how important is continuity of life and fringe benefits? When to Get Assistance & How It Works Its best to have a professional assist with your tax return from the beginning When you have employees is a good idea to have a book keeper as some laws are federal and some state These days you can work with a professional easily; Email, phone, skype, mailing, Dropbox is all part of working with a remote tax assistant or tax coach Tax Preparation, Tax Projection and Tax Planning? Tax Preparation –  Recording history of what happened in the previous year Tax Projection – A separate engagement and takes historical data and have consultation on what business is doing in the current year This estimates the business expenses as well as gross and net income This gives the business an idea of how much tax they owe in the coming year Tax Planning – Working into the future 3-5 years Takes an all encompassing look at the personal and business life Look for money already being spent that could potentially be a tax deduction   Thank you for listening!
