 Audio: How To Make $250,000 A Year Selling e-Books – Interview With Daryl Grant – Part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:10

Daryl Grant and her husband Andrew (www.andrewanddaryl.com) started selling e-books online in late 2004. The next year they had revenues of over $250,000 USD selling multiple information products on various niche topics. They now have a proven system for finding niches, conducting market research, outsourcing the production of quality books/information and marketing and delivering the products through the web. Not bad for a couple who barely could do much more than surf and email when they got started. I found out about Daryl and Andrew after seeing a newspaper article about their success. I got in touch and arranged to do this podcast with Daryl. We ended up talking for nearly an hour so I broke this podcast into two parts. The second part will be released sometime soon. If you want to hear how Daryl managed to create a $250,000 passive income stream in a year's time then you will enjoy these podcasts. If you would like further information on how you can start your own information product business take a look at the resources Daryl has provided at her website - AndrewAndDaryl.com Show Notes First up an introduction to Daryl and what she did before starting her current information product business.  Audio: How To Choose A Web Designer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:50

One of the most common roadblocks for non-technical people to get into online marketing or start an Internet business is the issue of finding IT talent and in particular locating someone to design your website. Most small businesses outsource web design because it is too technically challenging to do it in-house. Outsourcing has pros and cons but if you can locate the right person and they stick around long enough you can establish a fantastic relationship. In this podcast I briefly discuss the use of audio on websites and then describe some steps you can take to outsource your web design requirements.

Audio: Building Blog Traffic Discussion With Darren Rowse | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:10

I have a treat for you podcast listeners today - a discussion on blog traffic building with Darren Rowse, the Problogger. In this episode of the Entrepreneur's Journey podcast Darren and I talk about how he got so much traffic to his big income earning blogs like his Digital Photography Blog, why you really shouldn't start your own digital photography blog and why you should start a Canon camera blog instead. Darren mentions some techniques he uses to keep bringing in traffic that the big corporate sites can't do for legal reasons, we talk about following trends and how the first mover who covers a trend in the blogosphere can get the big traffic gains and what Darren is planning in 2006. There's also some brief Yaro ramblings in there too, which I promise ties in with the overall theme of the podcast...eventually. Enjoy!

Audio: Client Culling – Selecting The Best Clients For Your Business | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:45

This episode of the Entrepreneur's Journey Podcast (RSS Feed) features a discussion with my friend Will Swayne from Marketing Results in Brisbane on the topic of client culling. Client culling is a process a business goes through to isolate the right type of clients. Culling the resource intensive clients and actively seeking the "best fit" ideal clients that benefit from what the business offers without causing friction to the business systems, is what client culling is all about. During the early start-up phase when cashflow is tight business owners are willing to take on any work no matter if the job requirements don't quite match what the business is focused on or working towards. This results in poor resource utilization and inefficient work practices that often coincide with underdeveloped systems. In a lot of ways this is part of a teething process as the business "grows up". As cashflow stabilizes and systems are developed business owners gain clarity regarding exactly what their business should present to the marketplace and what type of clients should be sought. With a better understanding of the ideal client and service or product positioning it becomes easier for business owners to spot a "bad client", one that will consume more resources than the output will justify. These clients are then rejected with a clear conscious. Furthermore, business owners can look in their existing clientbase and pinpoint ongoing contracts with clients that are resource intensive and cull these customers from their books. Over time systematization and refinement create a system that attracts and satisfies ideal clients creating a significant profit margin through efficient use of resources.  Audio: Interview With Kevin Muoio From IPodMyBaby.com | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:25

This episode of the Entrepreneur's Journey Podcast (RSS Feed) contains an interview with Kevin Muoio. Kevin is the co-owner of iPod My Baby and iPod My Photo, two e-commerce websites selling iPod related merchandise. I first heard about Kevin from the podcast interview he did with Andru Edwards from Venturus. In that interview Kevin talked briefly about the blog marketing he did for his websites and that the majority of traffic (and subsequent) sales came from blogs. What made it really interesting though was that he in fact didn't operate a blog himself, he used other people's blogs to promote his business. At the time of our call Kevin had only spent $100 on marketing for his business, and that was for some pay per click advertising, his blog marketing efforts have been completely free. Blog publicity outperformed some significant mainstream media coverage Kevin's websites received so I really wanted to hear more about how exactly he was using blogs to market his business. I decided to call him up and ask and of course I recorded everything for a podcast so we all can learn from Kevin's techniques. This podcast has some great current advice on how to use the blogosphere to create buzz and market a business without spending a cent. It very much parallels traditional PR or press coverage marketing but because of the nature of blogs and bloggers you face a lot less resistance to access communication channels. Blogs enjoy significant online network effects so a successful blog marketing campaign can result in exponential exposure for a website business. It's a marketing technique that every business should take advantage of. I hope you enjoy the podcast.
