SGU Cancellation Shout-Back! On a very special all-voicemail installment of the GateWorld Podcast, this week we open up the mic to let YOU have your say about the cancellation of Stargate Universe. After the news was announced in December we asked listeners to call into the Podcast Hotline during our holiday hiatus. SGU Season Two So Far. Welcome to 2011! The GateWorld Podcast returns for another year as Darren and David revisit the first 10 episodes of Stargate Universe's second season -- the story so far, from "Intervention" to "Resurgence." We'll talk about the Lucian Alliance, Everett Young's descent into his own, personal hell, and Chloe's transformation. We'll also discuss how "safe" these characters are from the writer's sword, Telford's return (and exit, and return), and a whole lot more. But first, we will kick off the show with a recap of what's happened on the SGU cancellation front since our last show, including some possibilities for the future of the show and the franchise. SGU's Cancellation. This past week GateWorld was headed into the last days of 2010 planning our last podcast of the year on wrapping up the first half of SGU's sophomore season. Then "the other shoe dropped," and we learned on Thursday that Syfy has canceled Stargate Universe. So instead, in this week's final show of the year GateWorld's editors welcome sci-fi insider Diana Botsford for an important, if a bit sad, discussion. We'll talk about Syfy Channel's programming strategy -- including the move to Tuesdays -- plus the style of SGU, and more. We'll also speculate about the possibility of Stargate movies once MGM emerges from bankruptcy, what we'd like to see from a fourth series, and what else is still ahead for the franchise. "Resurgence" (SGU #210). We've made it to the mid-season finale of Stargate Universe! On this week's show GateWorld's own Darren and David will hash through every bit of "Resurgence," from the decision to go off of Destiny's flight path all the way to the final, cliffhanger moments. We'll discuss the trip over to a derelict ship, the Ursini and Colonel Telford's return, and a whole lot on the drone ships and the threat they pose. And we'll also talk about the expectations we have for a mid-season finale in particular, and how "Resurgence" measures up. "Visitation" (SGU #209). This week on the GateWorld Podcast Darren and David are talking about "Visitation," the penultimate episode of Stargate Universe's fall season. Some old friends are back thanks to the miraculous intervention of some very powerful beings ... but what secret do they carry? We'll talk about the return of Caine and the others and what really happened to them on "Eden," the metaphysics of putting a human person back together, and Chloe's decision to start saying goodbye to her friends. For Hogwarts fans we'll also wrap up the show with a little discussion of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1!" (Beware of some spoilers.) "Malice" (SGU #208). This week on the show David is joined by one of our favorite guest hosts, Diana Botsford, to talk about "Malice!" The eighth episode of Stargate Universe's new second season was written and directed by Robert C. Cooper, and pays off the storyline of Simeon (guest star Robert Knepper), a soldier still loyal to the Lucian Alliance. They'll talk about the deaths of some significant supporting characters, directing in television, and Eli and Rush's different responses to what has happened. "Awakening" (SGU #203). Darren and David are back this week for another brand new episode of Stargate Universe! "Awakening" aired last week, and it's our main discussion topic. "Aftermath" (SGU #202). Stargate Universe continues its second season with a gut-wrenching episode that is sure to break a few hearts, as we say goodbye to one of the show's supporting cast members. In this week's podcast GateWorld's Darren and David talk about how that astonishing scene impacted them. We'll also discuss Rush's huge discovery on the ship, his hallucinations (or are they?!), the implications of gaining control over Destiny, plus that pesky problem of what to do with the Lucian Alliance survivors. "Intervention" (SGU #201). Stargate Universe returns to television with the premiere of Season Two, "Intervention!" That's the topic of this week's show, as GateWorld's Darren and David share their opinions about the episode and new developments on board the Destiny. We'll discuss the resolution of last spring's many cliffhanger moments and the set-up for new story elements in Season Two -- plus the new Lucian Alliance characters, Rush's ploy to regain control of the ship, and plenty about T.J., Caine, and those super-powerful aliens. SGU Pregame Show. We're back! After a summer hiatus Darren and David are ready to talk about Season Two of Stargate Universe, which premieres this Tuesday, September 28 at 9 p.m. (8 Central) on Syfy Channel. Joining us is our friend Diana Botsford, author of the new SG-1 novel "Four Dragons" and a big fan of Stargate herself. We'll discuss last season's cliffhanger, the presence and motives of the Lucian Alliance, and character growth for our main players. We'll also talk about Destiny and her mission, and raising the stakes in Season Two. Watch out for more spoilers in this show than we usually include -- though if you've watched the Season Two trailers and read any interviews from the producers over the summer, we won't get any more detailed than that.
