Golf - European Tour Race to Dubai Show

This week Robert Lee and Ross McFarlane look back at a dramatic BMW PGA Championship from Wentworth where Luke Donald edged out fellow Englishman Lee Westwood in a play-off to win the prestigious title and, in doing so, also become the new world number one. We hear from the jubilant champion as well as the disappointed runner up. We also hear from 3rd placed Simon Dyson. The next event on the Race to Dubai is the Saab Wales Open and local favourite Jamie Donaldson helps us preview what is sure to be a high quality week of golf from Celtic Manor. This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at Ian Poulters victory over fellow Englishman, Luke Donald at the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain. We hear from both of the Ryder Cup team mates. There were two events on tour last week and we hear from Michael Hoey who won The Madeira Islands Open at a windy Porto Santo. This week on the Race to Dubai its the flagship event on the European Tour, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. We look ahead to what should be a fantastic week of golf with all four Major Champions playing and hear from Ross Fisher and Martin Kaymer. Our tip of the week comes from European Tour coach Tim Barter who gives us some chipping advice.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at Darren Clarkes first win on the European Tour in over three years. We hear from the new Champion at the Iberdrola Open and from Chris Wood who had a four shot lead going into the final round and finished in a tie for second place. KJ Choi won the Players Championship in Sawgrass but it was Tiger Woods withdrawal after only nine holes that made the headlines – we hear from the former World Number One. There are two events on the Race to Dubai this week, the Volvo World Match Play in Spain and the Madeira Islands Open and in our tip of the week Paul Broadhurst gives us some putting advice.

In a special edition of the show Robert Lee and John Hawksworth celebrate the life and career of one of the worlds greatest golfers Severiano Ballesteros of Spain. We hear from his good friend and Ryder Cup partner Jose Maria Olazabal, from Colin Montgomerie and from Phil Mickelson who pays his tribute to a formidable opponent. We also take a look at Thomas Aikens maiden win on the European Tour at the Open de Espana - which fittingly was the last event Seve won on Tour. We also look ahead to this weeks events on both sides of the Atlantic – The Iberdrola Open in Mallorca and the Players Championship in Sawgrass.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at the Ballantines Championship in Korea and a second successive win for the World Number One Lee Westwood. We hear from Westwood, from runner up, and Ryder Cup colleague, Miguel Angel Jimenez and from Swedens Alex Noren who finished in a tie for fifth. The golfers now travel to mainland Europe for this weeks event – the Open de Espana in Barcelona – and we hear from last years runner up James Morrison. We hear from the winner and from runners up Pablo Martin, Soren Kjeldsen and Peter Lawrie. We also hear from Englands Lee Westwood who regained his place as World Number One after winning the Indonesian Open. The golfers stay in Asia for the next event on the Race to Dubai, the Ballantines Championship in Korea where Westwood is amongst a strong field including Ian Poulter and Americas Dustin Johnson. This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at the Maybank Malaysian Open where Italian teenager Matteo Mannasero claimed his second European title at the tender age of 17 years old. We hear from the record breaking youngster as well as runner up Gregory Bourdy and 3rd placed Rory McIlroy – who bounced back well after his Masters disappointment the week before. We also hear from the Masters champion, Charl Schwartzel, who respectably finished just outside the top ten after what’s been an emotional week for the South African. We will also look ahead to the next event on the Race to Dubai, the Volvo China Open, with former winner of the event Scott Strange helping us examine the new course. This week Robert Lee and Richard Boxall look back at the first Major of the year the Masters as Charl Schwartzel wins the illustrious Green Jacket. After a thrilling final round, the South African edged out Australias Adam Scott and Jason Day. We hear from the new Champion and from Scott who was hoping to become the first Australian to win the title. We also hear from Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy who led by four going into the final round but shot an 80 to finish in 15th. We also look ahead to the next event on the Race to Dubai, the Maybank Malaysian Open where amongst the field is none other than the new Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel.

This week Robert Lee and Gordon Brand Junior look back at the Trophee Hassan 11 where Englands David Horsey won his second European Tour title, edging out the defending champion Rhys Davies and Jaco Van Zyl in a play off. This week the worldâs best golfers are at the Augusta National Golf Course for the first major of the year â The Masters. We hear from World number two Lee Westwood, defending champion Phil Mickelson and multiple major winner Padraig Harrington. US broadcaster Bob Bubka also joins us to give us his views on the week. Plus, our Tip of the Week this week comes from Englishman Jamie Elsom.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at the Open de Andalucia de Golf where Scot Paul Lawrie won his first European Tour title for 9 years, edging out Swede Johan Edfors by one stroke. We hear from both men as well as from Englishman Kenneth Ferrie who equaled the Tour record lowest round of 60 on the Saturday. We also hear from another Scottish winner, Martin Laird, who held on to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational over on the PGA Tour. There is no Race to Dubai event this week but we look ahead to this weeks PGA Tour event, the Honda Classic in Florida, where there is another strong European represenation, as well as the resumption of the Senior Tour at the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters.
