Golf - European Tour Race to Dubai Show

This week Robert Lee and Ross McFarlane look back at Richard Sterne after his remarkable win at the Joburg Open, his first win after two years out of the game through injury. We hear exclusively from Sterne after his 7 shot victory which qualifies him for the WGC Accenture World Match Play in Arizona. We also hear from European Tour Radio News Reporter Nick Dye to reflect on the start of the 2013 Race to Dubai season and our tip of the week come from Argentine Tano Goya.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth congratulate Stephen Gallagher as he ends a nine-year wait for a second European Tour title with victory at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. We also hear from from Richard Sterne who came second and from Lee Westwood who finished in a tie for 5th in his opening event of 2013. We talk to Mike Green from the Sunshine Tour about yet another Tour event this week in South Africa, The Joburg Open and ask why they are producing so many world class players and we speak exclusively to Thomas Levet after he became the latest European Tour player to rack up 500 events.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth discuss Chris Wood's maiden Tour win at the Qatar Commercial Bank Masters. We also get the view of a man who has know Wood since he was a child on how far he can now go in the game. Sergio Garcia tells us why his second place was a positive start to the season and we go live to the course ahead of the next event, The Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Paul Casey has a tip for all amateur golfers on how to play in the wind while Ignacio Garrido joins us the week he made his 500th European Tour appearance.

This week Ross McFarlane joins Robert Lee as they a look back at Jamie Donaldsons win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, his second Tour title. We also hear from Justin Rose who had led for most of the week and from World Number One Rory McIlroy who missed the cut. We stay in the Middle East to preview the next event the Commercialbank Qatar Masters and we get all the reaction to the news of Paul McGinleys appointment as Captain of the European Ryder Cup team for 2014, as well as hear from the man himself.

This week Robert Lee and Richard Boxall reflect on yet another victory for Louis Oosthuizen after the South Africans win at the Volvo Golf Champions. Scott Jamieson finished second after letting a five shot lead slip, he tells us how nerves played a factor. We also look ahead to the first of the Gulf Swing events with the heavily anticipated Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Henrik Stenson joins us from the course to help look ahead to the week and tells us his hopes for the season. And Robert Rock reminisces over the title he won in spectacular style last year beating Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods in the final round.

We hear from the inform South African and also from Sergio Garcia after his win in Malaysia after a final round 61 in a weather affected tournament. This week Robert Lee and Ross McFarlane look back at a thrilling end to the Race to Dubai as World Number One Rory McIlroy finished the year in style by winning the DP World Tour Championship. We hear more from the undisputed golfer of the year, from World Number Two Luke Donald who had a share of the lead going into Sunday and from runner up Justin Rose who shot a course record 62 in the final round. We also look ahead to the 2013 Race to Dubai schedule and round up some of the highlights of the year. Our tip of the week comes from Richard Finch, the final man to qualify for last weeks event in Dubai.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at an historic win for Miguel Angel Jiminez at the UBS Hong Kong Open as he becomes the oldest winner on The European Tour. We hear from the Spaniard and from Henrik Stenson who ended a five year run without a win as he secured the second event on Tour this week, the SA Open Championship. It was a busy week of golf all over the world as Luke Donald won in Japan and Adam Scott took the Australian Masters. This week sees the final event of the season, the DP World Tour Championship, and although Rory McIlroy has wrapped up the Race to Dubai there is still plenty to play for and our tip of the week comes from Richard Green.

This week Robert Lee and John Hawksworth look back at a Matteo Manaserro’s playoff victory at the Barclays Singapore Open. We hear from the teenager after his third win on tour. We also hear from runner up, Louis Oosthuizen as well as Rory McIlroy, who by finishing third cemented his position as Europe’s number one as he can no longer be caught in the 2012 Race to Dubai. This week on the Race to Dubai there are two events, the UBS Hong Kong Open and the South African Open Championship.
