 #192 – End of Season Review | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

All good things come to an end they say. Unfortunately, there has been little good to come of this woeful season even – at least nothing ‘they’ told David Moyes! In the final Rant Cast of the season Ed & Paul look back on the campaign that was, with the pod’s now (in)famous awards in tow. Best Player, Best Goal, Best Cross out of the 81 made against Fulham at Old Trafford…. they all roll off the tongue! In addition to this season’s long-awaited awards, there’s a review of United’s final game of the campaign – a spirited draw with Southampton at St. Mary’s. The boys look towards the future, with Louis van Gaal due to be unveiled as United manager any day now… no really… it’ll happen soon… honest. There’s also a debate about the transfer market. Will United spend big this summer, and on whom? Finally, the winner of @TatianaMUFC‘s competition is announced – one lucky listener winning a personalised pencil drawing.

 #191 – The Kids are Alright | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s Rant Cast, Ed & Paul look back at the damp squib that was defeat to Sunderland and the testimonial-like victory over Hull City, which featured a couple of exciting début appearances. They also look forward to the season closer at Southampton, talk Ryan Giggs and Louis van Gaal, and do an extra large helping of your questions to make up for the lack listener input last week! There’s also a brief chat about transfers, and an outline of plans for World Cup Rant Casts. Also, make sure to stay tuned to the very end of the show to hear details of a contest to win a fantastic prize.

 #190 – Tearing Them Apart (Again) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

Saturday, 2 March 1991. Manchester United 0 – 2 Everton. Saturday, 27 April 2014. Manchester United 4 – 0 Norwich City. More than 23 separate two key dates in Ryan Giggs’ career – days that the Welshman will surely never forget. Two decades ago a slight young man made his club début as a substitute in a sorry home defeat to Everton. Last Saturday Giggs walked out as club manager, albeit on an interim basis. It was, he said, the proudest day in a quarter-century associated with the club. On this week’s Rant Cast Ed & Paul look back on Giggs’ début as United manager, assessing a performance that appeared liberated after months with players locked in a cycle of negativity. We discuss what might come next for United, with Dutchman Louis van Gaal favourite for the top job at Old Trafford. And we look at the potential scenarios in the coming weeks, with the ‘Class of ’92’ still keen to secure a place alongside whomever is leading the new regime. Also on the show: transfer market rumours, Champions League semi-finals, and Gary Neville’s strange views, and we look forward to United’s upcoming matches against Sunderland and Hull City at Old Trafford.

#189: He was Sacked in the Morning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

So there you have it, folks. David Moyes is no more. He is a dead manager, pining for his former job. Sacked by Ed Woodward – rather appropriately – on Monday morning to end 10 months of misery at Old Trafford. Ed & Paul cover this momentous occasion in depth, offering analysis of where it all went wrong for the former Evertonian, and what’s next for Manchester United. We talk Moyes’ failure, Sir Alex Ferguson, Ryan Giggs’ appointment, likely permanent candidates, transfer news and take your questions in a packed show!

 #188 – End of Season Party | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

In a bumper episode Ed & Paul look back on Manchester United’s week, including European defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich. It was the final truly competitive match of United’s season – a campaign that has now included 14 defeats across four competitions. We discuss United’s performance in Munich – a match that mirrored the draw at Old Trafford, only for defensive errors and Bayern pressure to tell as the Germans ran out 3-1 winners in the Allianz Arena. On the domestic front the Reds thrashed Newcastle United at St. James’ Park – a performance that saw Adnan Januzaj, Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa combine to such great effect. We ask whether it was luck or David Moyes’ judgement that brought the trio together. We take your questions, talk transfers, and look ahead to United’s fixture with Everton next week.

 #187 – Moyes Parks the Bus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

In what was ostensibly a good week for David Moyes, Ed & Paul contrive to record their most ‘Moyes-Out’ show yet. It was hard work ladies and gents, but somebody has to do it! The show covers the win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, and Manchester United’s brave, plucky, up and at ’em bus parking performances against Bayern Munich. Also on the pod: your twitter questions, a preview of the dead rubber against Newcastle United, and a look ahead to quite how bad the damage could get next week in Munich. After last week’s overuse of the word “dichotomy,” the word of the week this time around is “conflate”.

 #186 – Aspiring to be Football Weekly | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

Following the ray of hope that was the game against West Ham United, and the full blown downpour of dooooooom that was defeat to Manchester City, Ed & Paul cover all the stuff that matters in the world of Manchester United, provide some analysis, and ending up spending ages talking about ol’ David Moyesey. With a preview of Aston Villa and United’s inevitably glorious win over Bayern Munich next week, and all of your twitter questions, this week’s podcast comes to you from opposite sides of the Atlantic. Which is still closer than Moyes and Giggsy sit to each other on the United bench.

 #185 – Moyes Buys Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show Ed & Paul look back on a mixed week for Manchester United. In the Premier League David Moyes’ side was comprehensively beaten by Liverpool at Old Trafford, leading to intensified calls for a change in direction. Rumours circulated that even the previously steadfast Ed Woodward, Sir Alex Ferguson and the Glazer family were considering sacking the 50-year-old former Everton coach. But United’s triumphant victory over Olympiakos has seemingly bought the coach time – a 3-0 win at Old Trafford taking United into the Champions League quarter finals. There’s a look ahead to the games against West Ham United and Manchester City, including a very special guest. Finally, your questions and all the news that’s fit to discuss in a packed show.

 #184 – We’re Gonna Win the League | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show Ed & Paul look back on United’s triumphant victory over the might of West Bromwich Albion, compliment the genius of Marouane Fellaini and look forward to United lifting the title in May. Or perhaps not. There’s a look ahead to the games against Liverpool and Olympiakos, and chat about the investment made in Manchester United by Baron Capital. Finally, there are your twitter questions and all the news that’s fit to chat about on another episode of the Rant Cast.

 #183 – United’s Response, Part XI | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show Ed & Paul look back on a good week for Manchester United: David Moyes side hasn’t lost a game, although that has much to do with the Reds having a weekend off in the Premier League! In the absence of football this week’s Rant Cast looks back on the key news from the week, including Robin van Persie’s strop, international friendlies, and that Tom Cleverley petition. Also on the pod this week: your questions answered, transfer gossip, and a look ahead to United’s visit to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend!

 #182 – (Not) Sacked in the Morning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s Rant Cast Ed & Paul look back on another disastrous week for Manchester United. David Moyes’ side may have won at Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but defeat to Olympiakos in Athens might just have ended the Reds’ season in February. United’s 2-0 victory at Selhurst Park was earned with not only a fine Wayne Rooney goal, but a change in style that saw both Adnan Januzaj and Juan Mata start in a narrow formation. It turned out to be a short-lived experiment, with Moyes’ outfit returning in Athens to methods tried and unfortunately trusted by the Scot. Olympiakos’ fast-paced attacking on the break proved to be far too much for United, leaving the Reds needing to win by three at Old Trafford in mid-March. Also on the pod this week: your questions, David Moyes’ future, Rooney’s new contract, and a look ahead to the summer transfer window!

 #181 – It’s all Greek to Me | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show a preview of two huge games for Manchester United. First Ed & Paul look ahead to United’s trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, where Tony Pullis’ south Londoners have enjoyed a revival in recent weeks to pull clear of the relegation zone. Can David Moyes relieve some of the pressure by securing three points against the newly promoted outfit? Then United travel to Athens for the Round of 16 first leg clash with Olympiakos. United’s record in Europe this season is strong, but how will the Reds fare in the atmospheric Karaiskakis Stadium next Tuesday? Also on the show this week: your questions answers, transfer gossip assessed and a review of United’s training holiday camp in Dubai!

 #180 – Couldn’t Tell an Arse From the Arsenal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s packed Rant Cast Ed & Paul look back on Manchester United’s draw with Fulham at Old Trafford; possibly the worse United performances of the season. Then we review the Reds’ match Arsenal at the Emirates – a bore draw that exposed United’s limitations once again. David Moyes has attracted significant criticism this week following more dropped points in the Premier League, especially in the wake of the United’s 2-2 draw with Fulham. Meanwhile, in London the Scot’s side was again extra cautious in taking a point from Arsenal. Also on the show: your questions answered and United’s quarterly financial results analysed!

#179 – Down and Out in the Potteries | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show we look back on a disastrous result at Stoke City with David Moyes’ hapless side losing 2-1 in the Potteries. On a day when few could remember a performance quite so pitifully abject, Moyes’ side reached what supporters can only hope is finally the nadir in a disastrous season. Time, they say, is what Moyes needs to rebuild his squad and make it his own; time the Scot is unlikely to get unless results and performances improve at least a modicum before the season’s end. Also on the show this week: we discuss the managerial market, with Swansea City’s Michael Laudrup sacked. We also look back on the transfer window and ahead to the changes that might happen in the squad next summer, and talk about a manager who appears to say all the wrong things. Finally, we take your questions and look ahead to two matches in the coming week: Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, and then Arsenal in the Capital on Wednesday night.

 #178 – The Pod Slams Shut | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:00

On this week’s show we discuss Juan Mata’s debut in Manchester United’s victory over Cardiff City at Old Trafford this week. An accomplished first appearance in a United shirt came as the Reds secured three vital points against the Welsh side. Yet, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s outfit rock bottom of the Premier League how exactly did the visitors outpass United in central midfield? Still, victory is a victory and manager David Moyes will also take comfort from the goalscoring return of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney’s substitute appearance. Off the pitch United confirmed the departures of Fabio da Sila (permanently) and Wilfried Zaha (loan) to Cardiff, while speculation was high that Nani will be allowed to leave for Inter this winter. We take your questions, discuss the second half of the campaign and look forward to United’s trip to Stoke City this weekend!
