Cigars and Scotch Podcast

Live and in person, Ren Mireless from world famous George's Smoke Shop visits Dan and Jon to talk about the cigar world. While we wax poetic and bring Ren down to our level, we smoke the Alec Bradley New York Empire and enjoy some Macallan 12yr. Some good stuff going down here on the show. Ren talks about his progression into the Cigar bizness, selling cigars, the evolution of the industry, and other bits of wisdom that you may not know about the industry. It's a great listen. It's doom and gloom for the guys as they consume the newly released Asylum cigars and crack open some Cardhu 12yr from the Speyside region. Then it gets all "end-of-the-world-y" as the guys discuss the end of civilization and their plans to loot liquor stores and cigar shops. Oh, the humanity!

We get deep on this one as we consume the secretive Smokehead single malt and try the newly introduced CAO Concert cigars. After living dangerously with the "unknown distiller" of Smokehead, Dan and Jon get down and dirty and talk about succeeding in life by trying, failing, and then trying again. Of course the show would be no fun without inane ramblings about the Gong Show, people who love to talk about themselves, and other life lessons that make you shake your head. Now with less aftertaste!

Tomatin Decades scotch is consumed and analyzed while we fire up the Romeo y Julieta Bully robustos. We then try to understand why our teachers would abuse us in our youth and if we would put our kids through that torment. (Oh yeah!). We also talk about the torment of using the bathroom in airports, why our interns suck, and learn about Jon's secret identity, Juancho. We accept all major credit cards as well as money orders.

Manhattans are the drink of the day here on the show, coupled with a nice San Lotano Habano by A.J. Fernandez. Dan and Jon decide to take it to the great outdoors over the holiday weekend and change it up with a man's drink: Manhattan. We try them with Scotch, which is really a Rob Roy, then hit it with the traditional bourbon whiskey. Words start slurring towards the end as the guys rap about the myth of Greg Brady's tiki idol curse, what the best poster hanging in your old room, and good ol' buddies who know what a knucklehead you truly are and love you for it!

Jon salivates over his beloved Lagavulin 16yr single malt in this weeks show. Alec Bradley American cigars are also consumed with glee as Dan regails us about his recent adventures in Alaska on a cruise ship. We rap about the dominance of older folks on the cruise ship and the ability to fit in amongst the older folk. Also, the crappy Manhattans that were server and the lack of a decent place to smoke a cigar on an open-air cruise ship! We need to have a Cigar and Scotch cruise! Make it happen, peeps. As a bonus, we talk about the world air guitar champions, Nordic Thunder. (We hit an all-time low.)

Their is quite a bit of reminiscing about Clint Eastwood movies as you cannot say "Scapa" without using the Clint voice.
