Are you tight-fisted with your stuff? Are you not sharing the things that God has provided to you? Coveting starts in the mind and affects all areas of our lives. This last commandment is at the core of all the commandments, just as having physical core strength affects all other areas of your body. Coveting prevents us from being grateful and content with what we have.
In other words, Do Not Lie! The 9th Commandment is designed to protect relationships. Donna reminds us that HOW you say WHAT you say really is important. Gossip is a form of lying, and gossip or lying causes unjustified injury to another.
Thou Shalt Not Steal. Work (model it for your children), and Give (be generous). Stealing can mean not paying back credit card debt or loans, or filing bankruptcy.
Marriage needs attention and protection! Donna teaches us that in Matthew 5:27-30, if you lust for someone other than your spouse, you are committing adultery in your heart. Talk to your children about sex and train them to be disciplined with their bodies.
Donna teaches us that murder can also mean hating others, being angry toward others, and even hurting others.
This Commandment comes with a promise: "Honor Your Mother and Father, that you may have a long life in the land which the Lord, your God, is giving you." Donna reminds us that no matter how old we are, we are commanded to honor our mother and father. Donna shares wonderful insight on this Commandment.
Are you giving God your time on a daily basis? Do put it on your calendar, and be intentional about your time with God.
Be careful, not careless, in how you live your life of character as you represent Christ.
