Beth Hossfeld, M.S., LMFT, is Co-founder and Consultant at One Circle Foundation, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Mill Valley, CA since 1987. Her career emphasis has been promoting healthy relationships for children, adolescents and families. She served as clinical director for a community based organization providing school-based mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs for K -12th graders. Kelli Finley, M.S., is the Development Director of One Circle Foundation where she supports the expanding reach of Girls Circle, The Council for Boys and Young Men, and Women’s Circle in the Bay Area and across the country. Prior to her work at One Circle, Kelli developed and ran a first-of-its-kind therapeutic program within the San Francisco County jails for children who have a parent that is incarcerated. Kelli holds a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. Since 1997, Girls Circle has become a leading gender-responsive model for girls. In 2008, Beth and her colleagues developed The Council for Boys and Young Men, in collaboration with a diverse group of experienced leaders in youth programming. These approaches equip youth to deconstruct limiting and harmful stereotypes about gender and promote safe and healthy connections. In 2012, Beth and her colleagues established One Circle Foundation, the nonprofit that provides facilitator trainings, curricula, and consultation nationwide and in Canada on these research-based circle models. Transcript Nancy Swift Furlotti, Ph.D. is a Jungian Analyst in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California. She is a past President of the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. Dr. Swift Furlotti trained at the Los Angeles Institute while also participating in the von Franz Centre for Depth Psychology in Switzerland. She is a faculty member of the C. G. Jung Institute of Colorado and the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, and teaches and lectures in the US and internationally. Her articles ‘The Archetypal drama in Puccini’s Madam Butterfly’ and ‘Tracing a Red Thread: Synchronicity and Jung’s Red Book’ have recently been published in Psychological Perspectives. She also has a chapter, ‘Angels and Idols: Los Angeles, A City of Contrasts’ in Tom Singer’s (ed.) book, Psyche and the City: A Soul’s Guide to the Modern Metropolis. Her recent book edited with Dr. Erel Shalit is titled, The Dream and its Amplification. Her article on the Jung-Neumann correspondence is included in the soon to be published book, Turbulent Times, Creative Minds: Erich Neumann and C. G Jung in Relationship. Dr. Swift Furlotti has a deep interest in exploring the manifestations of the psyche through dreams and myths, with a specific focus on the dark emanations from the psyche. Dr Hedaya believes that better mental and physical health can be achieved with less medication by correcting bodily systems and getting to the roots of ill health. Allan Abbass M.D. is professor, psychiatrist, and founding Director of the Centre for Emotions and Health at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. He published his first book, Reaching through Resistance: Advanced Psychotherapy Skills, in 2015. His clinical specialty and research focus is the use of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). His work centers on the use of emotion-focused psychotherapy to heal medically unexplained physical symptoms. In addition, he has developed psychotherapy training programs in ISTDP. He has also published clinical trials on the effectiveness of ISTDP and meta-analyses on the effectiveness of ISTDP. Dr. Abbass is an Elected Member of the Royal Society of Medicine. Clifford D. Saron PhD, an Associate Research Scientist at the Center for Mind and Brain and MIND Institute at the University of California at Davis, received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1999. Dr. Saron has had a long-standing interest in the effects of contemplative practice. He has coordinated field research investigating Tibetan Buddhist mind training under the auspices of H. H. the Dalai Lama, served on the Mind and Life Institute’s (MLI) Program and Research Council, and been frequent faculty at the MLI Summer Institute. Dr. Saron is Principal Investigator of the Shamatha Project, a multidisciplinary longitudinal investigation of the effects of long-term intensive meditation on physiological and psychological processes central to well-being, attention, emotion regulation and health. It was conceived with and taught by Alan Wallace, with the talents of a large consortium of researchers at UC Davis and elsewhere. In 2012, Dr. Saron and his colleagues were awarded the inaugural Templeton Prize Research Grant from the John Templeton Foundation to continue this work. Dr. Saron also studies sensory processing and multisensory integration in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Dr. Saron is also part of a large collaborative study examining how mindfulness-based interventions can ease the chronic stress of mothers of children with ASD in ways that may be beneficial for the whole family system and contribute to a lessoning of difficulties for the affected children. Transcript Sebern F. Fisher, MA, is a psychotherapist and neurofeedback practitioner in private practice who specializes in attachment issues. She trains professionals nationally and internationally on neurofeedback, neurofeedback and attachment disorder, and the integration of neurofeedback with psychotherapy. Sebern attended the Masters School before she went to Smith College, Columbia University and the University of Massachusetts. She graduated with a B.S. from the University in 1976. She graduated from Antioch New-England with a Masters in Counseling Psychology in 1978. Sebern initiated and co-produced a women’s consciousness raising show on WBAI in New York from 1969 and 1970. She co-founded and helped to administer the first publically funded day care center in New York City, the Children’s Mansion, 1968-1971. Sebern was one of the founders of the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts (now Tapestry Health) which began with one rural clinic in 1973. She started work there as a family planning counselor and by the time she left that organization in 1979, she was the Director of Training and Education. During her tenure, she mounted two major conferences. Men, Women and Rape in 1976 featuring Susan Brownmiller, Ann Burgess and Nicholas Groff and the second on Sex Education and the Family in 1978. From 1980 to 1997, Sebern was the clinical director of a residential treatment program for severely disturbed adolescents in western Massachusetts. At that time, it was considered to be one of the best such programs in the state and, by in large, the treatment outcomes were abysmal. In efforts to better understand these kids and to enhance treatment outcomes , she introduced attachment theory in the mid eighties and in 1991, Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Her center became the first in the nation to adopt and implement DBT in a residential milieu. Sebern discovered neurofeedback for her own brain in the spring of 1996. She went into full time private practice in 1997 and began to integrate neurofeedback with psychodynamic psychotherapy. Her book, Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma: Calming the fear-driven Brain is a direct result of this work. Sebern trains and consults in the implementation of neurofeedback and on the integration of psychotherapy and neurofeedback nationally and internationally. Sebern is married to John Fisher, a former CEO of EEG Spectrum, a neurofeedback company in California, a consultant on landlord-tenant law in Massachusetts, the author of the book, Property Management for Massachusetts Rental Owners and the managing director of the Foundation for Neurofeedback and Applied Neuroscience. They have three children John, Molly and Blake and three grandchildren, Jakob, Luke and Emily. Their youngest daughter Blake also has a practice in neurofeedback where she specializes in the treatment of children and their families.
