TDI Podcast: Long Fuse – Can We Handle The Truth? (#624) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:23

Back from South Africa and I have a few important observations. Aside from what is happening there – much of the recent out-sized moves for bonds and equities need to be explored. More importantly, we are being stuffed with a bunch of solid waste by the Fed and central banks around the world. They are in full panic mode and something that we have seen before – let’s not ignore the obvious signs this time.  TDI Podcast: Hide Your Treasure (#622) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:10

Adam Wright has a problem with spending. His idea is to create an augmented reality game to help himself (and others) to save more and spend less. The latest GDP report as well as earnings season are keeping investors interested in buying everything they can. Tech is looking pretty good – more earnings are on the way. Adam Wright grew up in Houston, TX, where he pole-vaulted on his high school’s track & field team and sang in the school choir. After graduation, he attended the University of North Texas, where he served as President of his fraternity and graduated with a media/television/film degree. He moved to downtown Dallas to work with the two serial entrepreneurs behind the best selling “Marshmallow Shooter” toy gun found in retail stores all across the country. This is where he learned the ropes of the wild wild west of entrepreneurship. Adam was recruited out of Dallas to move to Los Angeles and work for Ben Silverman’s former production company, Reveille LLC, as Executive Assistant to the Head of Development. He learned the magical effect ‘compelling story’ has on audiences, and moved on to produce hit reality television shows including Dance Moms (LIFETIME), RuPaul’s Drag Race (LOGO), and American Ninja Warrior (NBC). In 2018, Adam directed his first film, currently in post-production, a documentary about entrepreneurship and mental health. He resides in Venice, California.  TDI Podcast: Fix That Alpha Leak – Essentia Analytics (#621) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:56

Clare Flynn Levy, CEO of  Essentia Analytics explains why behavior tracking is essential to better performance. Just like elite athletes, investors need a data-driven feedback loop to improve. We also cover listener questions in the episode as well as economics, earnings and plenty more. Prior to founding Essentia, Clare spent 10 years as a fund manager, both active equity (running over $1bn of pension funds for Deutsche Asset Management) and hedge (as founder and CIO of Avocet Capital Management, a specialist tech fund manager). She ultimately ‘went native’ into the software space as President of Beauchamp Financial Technology, a market-leading provider of portfolio management systems to hedge funds, which was acquired by Linedata Services S.A. Clare’s vision for Essentia is based on years of being the customer, followed by years of listening to the customer. About Essentia Analytics Essentia Analytics is a leading provider of behavioral data analytics and consulting for professional investors. Led by a team of experts in investment management, technology and behavioral science, Essentia combines next-generation data analytics technology with human coaching to help active fund managers measurably improve investment decision-making. Essentia Analytics is an award-winning financial technology company that provides behavioral analytics services to professional investors. In investment management, as in elite sports, consistent outperformance requires a data-driven feedback loop and a cycle of continuous improvement: decisions are made, performance is assessed, behavioral factors and biases are identified, processes are optimized, and the next decision is made. Smarter, more focused, more efficient, better.
