In the wake of the nightmare that was Tully's barn, Sam appears ready to go to battle. But there is no battle left, and no chance to help but to mop up the mess. Marc, a wounded young warrior from the Dwellers, tries to keep his lips tight about his homeland and his plight, but it's clear there are few options left but to plow forward, whatever the cost. Amos and Lucian escape the fire and conflagration with Paul, a strange man who bears witness to a coming holy war. Paul leads them to the home of his people - the Believers - who welcome them with open arms. Arms maybe a little too open. Zeke, awkwardly moving into a new role, tells a secret to Richard that sets unimaginable wheels into motion.

With this small bit of breathing room, I'll take the opportunity to speak a bit about the journey thus far and what's in store. There are three more episodes to go before Season 1's finale in October. The eight scripts for Season 2 sit on my desk, and the stars are beginning to align for another fall production season...

The horror of Tully's barn not far behind her, Maria wakes with a start in a truck somewhere in the lot of the 'doomsday fortress' out in the backyard. It's a new day, but the horror of the night before lingers close, and as John snoozes, Maria can't help but take one more look inside. What secrets did Tully keep?

On their way crossing through a barbed-wire laden, wrecked car ravaged, hydro-mill spinning savagery of a homestead, John and Maria were separated and Tully the pig man threw Maria into his barn. Only a small gate stands between her and Tully's snarling, hungry beasts. Is there any escape from this nightmare?

Lucian's hands are bloody, and his spirit broken. He is in the "Soup" - the sewers of Corinth - and meditates on his place in this fallen world. But, a voice from the darkness call hims, and a ray of hope still shines...

And what they're looking for has the power to upset the equilibrium of their fair city and usher in the ultimate battle.

All that's left of the Refuge are smoldering ashes, but in the darkest hour, David swears they will revenge - even as his men plead that he rebuilds. Vengeance is felt in the ragged lands of the Republic, too, where Lucian is pushed to his point of breaking.  This meek man proves that he's still fierce beneath the surface.

Maria heads deeper into the forest, looking for an object John has stashed away that will unlock the next stage of the journey. John poses a question to her that forces her to put everything on the line. Will Maria step through the door that John has opened?

Further down the river, Prophet collapses into a heap and Luke runs off looking for help. As Prophet flits in and out of consciousness, he pushes Maria to make a decision that will change the path of everything to come.

Moments later, the chalky rain-starved land turns into an inferno that David and his motley survivors must stop at all costs. Further down the river, Prophet collapses into a heap and Luke runs off looking for help. As Prophet flits in and out of consciousness, he pushes Maria to make a decision that will change the path of everything to come. In the Republic, the fanfare of C-Day is over and Lucian, ever the loyal worker, heads back down for another day at the slag pits... But something's not right. Saul plays a dangerous game, charming the Republic's High Council and eeking secrets from the young boy Zeke.

Zeke has been restored to the sewers, but the remaining rebels loyal to John are distraught. With hope lost, a figure from the shadows offers a new deal... While in the Refuge, strange shapes are on the morning horizon.

There is cheering, parading, fanfare in the streets. The Republic celebrates the downfall of John Prophet, calling him oppressor and turning on the electricity of a machine called the Citadel. In the shadows of this celebration, a dark figure has allied John Prophet's lost soldiers to rescue Zeke. Zeke has been held by the Republic, in hopes that he can reveal John Prophet's destination. But it soon grows clear that Zeke's loyalty may be bought.
