 Episode 012 - Cough Drops | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:23

Gold is banging out at new record highs, Season One of Gold Rush Alaska has come to a close and a new season of gold shows is rapidly coming upon us. Wow, we had a full agenda for the night. We took a question from redxmen about an ore test called the Darton's test. He wanted to know if we ever used it on our own claims and what the results have been. We then discussed the end of the season of GRA and played a fun round of predicting what season 2 of GRA might look like. That was really funny. To give you a hint, the bears win in the end. We then discussed the possibility of  participating in "The Race For Gold" tv show. It's a pretty interesting TV show concept. How much fun out it be to have a team represented from members of ProspectorsPlus? I know, huh! Sign me the heck up. We closed the show out with a report from Chris and Larry on upcoming member events, new gold shows and of course new equipment. There are a ton of member events coming up in the next couple of months. Make sure to look at the member calendar so you don’t miss any!

Episode 011 - The Banning of Chris Lee | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:06

Sorry for the delay. Life’s been a bit crazy and with this gang of contributors, editing can take a bit of time (and patience). Originally recorded on February 11th, this week’s episode of the Ore Dump Podcast started with the shocking news about Chris Lee’s public scandal over shirtless Craigslist pictures that resulted in his quick resignation from Congress. While we are unsure if there is a connection between this story and own Chris Angus Lee (aka, Uno), it seemed to be a plausible reason behind his suspicious absence from the podcast recording. Is this a coincidence? I think not. Our hearts go out to Chris Angus Lee in his time of need. LOL – what a donkey! We took a question from Phil Ginonini about prospecting the Cle Elum and Salmon La Sac areas and then moved right in to discuss a the etiquette of gold prospecting spawned by an blog post from United Kingdom gold prospector Devon entitled, “Mr. Angry Returns From Wales”. While the panel did not feel the things were quite as dire here in the states in terms of prospecting etiquette, a couple of common sense reminders where thrown out. We started a new thread of discussion on gold prospecting and mining scams that was pretty interesting. Definitely more discussion to come on this as there are sadly reams of examples to choose from. A little education here can save a ton of money down the line. We then shifted to a less stressful subject of Gold Rush Alaska drinking game. We have seven rules so far and are looking for more ideas. We closed the show out with a report from Patrick on his recent trip to the Washington State Senate with the Resources Coalition – what they talked about, who they spoke with and some of the legislation being proposed. Many thanks to our good friend Laren for his leadership in helping represent our gold prospecting interests! If you love prospecting in Washington State and are not part of the Resources Coalition – please get active! There are a ton of member events coming up in the next month. Make sure to look at the member calendar so you don’t miss any!

 Episode 010 - Silence is Golden | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:16

This was one of my most favorite podcasts to date. We started by discussing gold January drop in the precious metals markets. This conversation lead us to ponder, if gold where down to 750/ounce, or, if the US had better unemployment rates, would there be as many people getting into prospecting as we see today? Really interesting conversation. We then took two questions from our forums, one from M.Gordon on finding gold below false bedrock and the other was from Roy48 who asked for recommendations on where to send ore and concentrate samples for analysis.

 Episode 009 - The Safety Word Is... | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:16

Well, I have to say, the new year of prospecting has already been exciting. In this week’s episode, we discuss the stumble gold took in the opening days of trading, the Big Foot sighting outside out Goldbar Washington store, review some of the largest nuggets ever recorded and debate the impact that the Discovery Channels hit Gold Rush: Alaska has had on the perception on gold prospecting. It was a pretty heated discussion around the table on that last one. Who would have thunk?

 Episode 008 - Gold's Where You Find It | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:43

This week's episode of the Prospectors Plus ‘Ore Dump’ podcast ends 2010 with a bang. We discuss Gold Rush: Alaska, gold-spouting ATMs in Florida, recent floods and member outing feedback.

 Episode 007 - Ham Bone | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:43

This week's episode of the Prospectors Plus ‘Ore Dump’ podcast actually happened about two weeks ago. As was mentioned on our blog, the unfortunate consumption of whiskey prior to said hosts arrival put this particular broadcast in jepardy. Don't get me wrong - I don't believe I have have laughed as hard as that in a long time, yet much of what was uttered was not fit for civilized folk to hear. Granted - we have a warning - but I don't think it's quite stron enough in this case. With over 2 hours of audio to try to wrangle into 35-45 minutes, it proved to be an editing challenge to say the least. I apologize in advance for any rough cuts from one subject to the next :).

 Episode 006 - The Forums Special | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:58

This week's episode of the Prospectors Plus ‘Ore Dump’ podcast ended up pulling a lot of conversation from our club forums right to the old kitchen table. As typical we opened by discussing the changes in the gold and silver markets, quickly followed by an update on our prospector t-shirt contest, our funniest post of the week (which turned out to be Chris' post on fracking) as well as answering our forum question of the week. Dead Air lost a bet to old Deuce on the name of the state fish of Hawaii. Back rubs commenced.

Episode 005 - Winter Prospecting In Washington State | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:24

The episode opens with a lively discussion on the continued run in gold and silver in the commodities markets. While gold is currently butting up against nearly $1400/oz it was interesting to hear that the metal to watch in the coming months is silver. Silver closed on Friday at $26.73. This week’s forums 'Stump the Expert' came from M. Gordon following a recent trip to Cody’s Dream, where he asked where in the club’s mine the gold is being found. We then introduced a new segment called 'Shop Talk' where we bring up the funniest story or happening from the store. This week we were treated to a drunk ladies shoe ending up tied under Doug’s bumper and learned way too much about Larry’s back hair. The gang then settled into the meat of the show, how to stay active in prospecting across the cold Washington State winter months – outside of the water. In total, four great prospecting opportunities where addressed: working the high water marks outside the normal flood levels, metal detecting, mining and dry gulch hunting and of course working your concentrates. In the course of the conversation, we discussed the value of watching and working rivers at flood, the mechanic of floods and where to find new pay streaks in spring. Very interesting stuff. Lastly, we closed with upcoming member outings and events not to be missed as well as some homework assignments for our audience. First, we would like all our members to go to our forums and give us their opinion on what outings, events and sceminars they would like to see in the coming year. Secondly, we would like your input on the funniest prospector tee-shirt ideas. This one is a contest. If you post the best tee-shirt idea, you win the shirt! Post your great ideas on our forums today!
