Episode 011 - The Banning of Chris Lee

Ore Dump Podcast show

Summary:
Sorry for the delay. Life’s been a bit crazy and with this gang of contributors, editing can take a bit of time (and patience).

Originally recorded on February 11th, this week’s episode of the Ore Dump Podcast started with the shocking news about Chris Lee’s public scandal over shirtless Craigslist pictures that resulted in his quick resignation from Congress. While we are unsure if there is a connection between this story and own Chris Angus Lee (aka, Uno), it seemed to be a plausible reason behind his suspicious absence from the podcast recording. Is this a coincidence? I think not. Our hearts go out to Chris Angus Lee in his time of need. LOL – what a donkey!

We took a question from Phil Ginonini about prospecting the Cle Elum and Salmon La Sac areas and then moved right in to discuss a the etiquette of gold prospecting spawned by an blog post from United Kingdom gold prospector Devon entitled, “Mr. Angry Returns From Wales”. While the panel did not feel the things were quite as dire here in the states in terms of prospecting etiquette, a couple of common sense reminders where thrown out.

We started a new thread of discussion on gold prospecting and mining scams that was pretty interesting. Definitely more discussion to come on this as there are sadly reams of examples to choose from. A little education here can save a ton of money down the line.

We then shifted to a less stressful subject of Gold Rush Alaska drinking game. We have seven rules so far and are looking for more ideas.

We closed the show out with a report from Patrick on his recent trip to the Washington State Senate with the Resources Coalition – what they talked about, who they spoke with and some of the legislation being proposed. Many thanks to our good friend Laren for his leadership in helping represent our gold prospecting interests! If you love prospecting in Washington State and are not part of the Resources Coalition – please get active!

There are a ton of member events coming up in the next month. Make sure to look at the member calendar so you don’t miss any!
