This two-part activity focuses on some of the practical aspects of managing major depressive disorder. Highlights from the first part of the activity include the tools to assess and diagnose patients with MDD. A number of pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for MDD are also discussed. In the second part of the activity, management of treatment-refractory MDD is addressed. This discussion also emphasizes the importance of measurement-based care and provides practical strategies for physicians to adopt this approach in their practices.
