It would be 50 years before women won the right to vote. Imagine how long it would have been without people like Susan B. Anthony and her three sisters breaking the law to register.

How recent the recognition of women has been in our male dominated society. How easy it has been to roll back some of these gains in the era of Trump. Abortion rights, the final attack on the bodies of women by the male establishment, must bring out millions of activists, ready to do what it takes to preserve the personhood of all American women.

We do not live in a post orientation or post gender identity world where all sexualities and gender identities, and the need to proclaim them, are equal. In fact, straight people and cis people already have a National Coming Out Day, it’s every day.

Today, we need a new purging of racist politicians who preach hate for political ends. And we will have to start at the very top.

Would that the current movement for women in America also come to see the underlying problems of our country: racism, imperialism and the fight for social and economic justice.
