In other words, it is the study of how the drug moves into the body from the point of administration as it goes into the different parts of the body then broken down and later on released via the involved organs involved in the excretory system. Pharmacodynamics on the other hand is defined as the study of the biochemical and physiological effects of drugs and the mechanisms of their actions, including the correlation of their actions and effects with their chemical structure. It is the study of the effects of substances or drugs to the body. As nurses, it is important to have knowledge of the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs to better understand how they work in the body and how they affect physiological processes. This knowledge can be applied in assessing our patients on their response to medications and to better explain to patients how their medications work and why it is important to adhere to them.
