Basing on these statistics, there is a large population out there that are using medications for mental disorders. One of the more commonly prescribed type of these medications are anti-psychotics. These medications help patients with psychosis lead a more normal and fulfilling life by alleviating such symptoms as hallucinations, both visual and auditory, and paranoid thoughts. However, there are side-effects accompanying these medications. Anti-psychotics are further classified into subtypes, the more recently developed antipsychotic medications have much lesser side effects though the earlier released type is still being used.
