ATHFEST '06: Venice Is Sinking

Athcast - Athens Music! show

Summary: "Formed in 1726 in Port Royal, Jamaica, Venice is Sinking was born the poor child of a seafaring sugar merchant. Its father passed away at an early age, but this traumatic event did not deter Venice is Sinking from taking up the sailor's life itself. The call of the sea was just too potent to ignore, so in 1743, after many years working in the sugar cane fields, Venice is Sinking took a position as house musician on the British sloop, the Lonely Wytche. Unfortunately, during a storm near Bermuda in 1745, the ship was lost, never to be heard from again. In 2004, Venice is Sinking mysteriously reappeared in the Caledonia Lounge parking lot in Athens, Georgia, trying to take a three pronged plug off a 1985 Volkswagen Westphalia for purposes unknown. As they have played many shows since then, one can only assume that they succeeded." *http://www.veniceissinking.net Photos: Kevin M.
